Read the book "Aztec" by Gary Jennings. It's kind of long but a very good story about what it was like to live in this time period, and it gives many more details to some of the rituals, costumes, and culture of the Aztecs and Maya depicted in this film. Highly recommended if you're in to that sort of thing!
