Wait... isnt it a GOOD thing if it rains?!

If (and it obviously rains eventually) it rains and the hole fills up, thatsa good thing. his wife and child will float to the top and get out, as opposed to be stuck at the bottom and starving to death or dying of thirst?!

People float, so its a good thing! Also dont give me any nonsense about them not being able to swim, we see them in water a lot, like when Jaguar Paw jumps off the waterfall and so do the other tribesmen.

Im stunned this board doesnt have more threads about this silly concept.

For the record, i really enjoyed the film. But this bit struck me as a bit silly.

Yeah, I was wondering about that, too.

Also, wouldn't tribes like them live as fishermen, since they were living so close to the sea?

Still a great movie, though.

The rain might never actually fill the hole, and they can't tread water forever. Also, the young one may not be able to swim or learn to float yet. And, finally the mother also had the baby in her arms. Try treading water while holding a brick above your head. I had to do it for life guarding certification, and no one in the class could go longer than 5 minutes.

People are born knowing how to swim. They forget it because they dont practice that in their youth.

No need to thread water. They have established they have a rope to hold on to.

It was pretty clearly displayed in the film that the wife was carrying a child that must have been made out of rock because it allowed her to walk under water. Rocks dont float.

Also the morons could have used the rope to hang on to to keep above water surface.
