Wonderful to look at - story has problems *SPOILER*

Very, very nice to look at. Totally worth watching just for that. The story has a few problems, and I don't care if someone wants to call me retarded before I have even posted this.
1) Why didn't the little guys, at any point, just move farther away? What was keeping them there? They didn't seem to need food or anything from the 'hood, so why not get the heck away from that factory thing?
2) SPOILER:
The plot walks right up to: they should put those souls back into the bodies. But do they do that? They had the technology. Heck, that's how they got into their bodies in the first place. But no, instead of that, the story takes a decidely sickly-sweet turn and, well, you saw what happens.
How was that outcome actually any different than destroying the machine, really? That would've probably made them really dead too, I suspect.

Still, wonderful to look at though.

"Dude, it's Lord Goblin King, not Lord Go Blinking!"

1) If they tried to travel long distances the BEAST would have caught them and destroyed them.

2) They didn't have access to all of the bodies that the machine took and no way of knowing how (or if they could) restore the souls. If the machine had been destroyed before the souls were released they would have been trapped inside. (You can't transfer files from a computer if it's smashed to pieces first!)

I'm not so sure that the beast WOULD have gotten them, but that may have been 1's reasoning. If you are going to keep control of a group of people when you are in no way entitled to it, you have to give them something to fear, so that you can then offer them protection. If they moved away, he would have lost that.

how did you not get the ending? there souls were free and when it started to rain we saw green specs of bacteria in the rain.

that was showing that when their souls flew up and caused the rain their souls split into the rain filling it with bacteria which will slowly restore life on the planet

who said I didn't get the ending?

That explains what happens, but not why the dolls didn't restore the 'souls' to the doll's bodies.

Finally intelligent criticism.

I'd add to that, the fact that it's hard to believe that the dolls were able to destroy the machine brain at its source when all of humanity wasn't able to do the same. You're left wondering why people couldn't have just blown up the factory.

And yes, wonderful to look at and totally worth it just for that.
