It seems like it was hated upon release, but the way this movie is presented and its impressive innovative new styles and concepts put into the animated film genre is great. No one seemed to care about it when it came out, and now IMDB reviews provide hope that this film is catching on to at least some audiences.
shareI don't think so. This film has a great style and an innovative animation, but lacks at the plot. The plot is quite simplistic and kind of dull. I doubt it will become a cult classic, but it was an enjoyable film.
shareAt the time, in the hight of animated films, like Up and other Dreamworks and Pixar movies, this was pretty innovative to have an animated film touch up on topic such as nuclear war and the destructive nature of humankind.
The plot wasn't all that bad, but it could have been better. You're right. Otherwise enjoyable, with a great voice cast too.
I feel the horrendous sound mixing alone would keep popularity from occurring. A viewer can't hear or understand a single word spoken unless the volume is raised to a point that the sound effects are at ear splitting levels.
shareI've watched this movie on three different DVD players and I haven't had any problem with understand the voices. In fact they were all quite clear.
When you use the term "a viewer" you're assuming that everyone who watches this movie is not able to hear the voices which isn't true. The sound mixing is done well and the voices, music and other sounds are clear.
Maybe you need to upgrade your equipment or buy the DVD instead of watching the pirate version of this movie.

I agree. This one is really, really good. Like Kubrick's films a lot of ink has been wasted describing all the ways that this movie is a failure. These people are small-minded and belligerent and time will only improve the reputation of this movie.
