Mary the Imaginary friend?

I may be overthinking this. I probably am. I am a father of a very musical 22 month old son. So it is no surprise he loves this show. I have watched this it a plethora of times over the past few months. Mary is in the club house when Jack gets there and doesnt leave when he leaves. My thought is that she is his imaginary friend.

Mary usually arrives after Jack does. Take the Daddi-o flower episode, and the Space Explorer/Opera Singer episode. She shows up after he gets there in both of those episodes. She's already there in the opening theme, but not in the episodes themselves. And yes, I watch this show too often with my very musical 3 year old. :o)

I've had the exact same thought.

I caught you a delicious bass.

i just think that its jacks clubhouse and mary is his guest. as jacks mom says in the beginning " we dont have much time" I did a lot of people overthink the show - i have so many people ask me what jack and mary are. my answer, they are puppets, just puppets. hahaha.

You are not overthinking Mary's status but I doubt she is imaginary. She does come and go at times that differ from Jack's (See the episode where Jack asks, "Where, oh where, oh where is Mary?") and Mel responds to Mary's presence, as well. I do wonder why Jack's mother never asks about Mary or why Mel, being a dog, is trusted alone in the club house...? Why doesn't he leave when Jack does?

I'm a newcomer to JBMS; my 15 month old daughter LOVES it! I used to theorize that Mary, Mel, and everything that happened in the clubhouse was a figment of Jack's imagination. Now I just dig the fact that I'm a guest...whatever the situation is. Give us more Hot Peas-N-Butter!
