Maybe I'm missing something... but how in the heck did the car end up on the roof at the end? How can Mr. Ratner be such a bad film maker that he doesn't even explain or show how the car ended up on the roof, after it was stuck on the elevator??? That's the one thing I wanted to see the most, and of course, Ratner, being the terrible director that he is, didn't even explain or show what happened.

Maybe, but on the other hand it adds a touch of realism. Obviously it's much easier to disassemble a care in its natural pieces than to hack it into equally valuable chunks, all the while trying to keep the employees in the Tower unaware of their presence. However, it looked to me as though everyone got at least a few million dollars worth...enough to retire comfortably.

Were the FBI even looking for the car? Did they ever find out that it was made of gold? Why would Shaw tell them? It would just add evidence of his guilt. At least with just the ledger, he could at least hope that his lawyers discount it as a forgery. Or his lawyers could claim that the ledger was illegally obtained evidence and so inadmissible in court. Remember, he's a chess player!!

That steering wheel was a "few million dollars worth" of gold?
Just for sh*ts and giggles I looked up the current gold value (according to the sites I saw after 30 seconds of Googling) and it would take roughly 80 lbs of gold to be worth $2 million.
Nothing those people were taking out of the boxes at the end seemed to weigh 80 lbs.
