Release date for DVD?

Does anyone know if this television drama is going to be released on DVD (or video)? As far as I can tell, it hasn't been so far. But it was so well made and enjoyable it must be released, eventually... right?

I hope so. Only, I hope it'll be in widescreen as the version History Channel show looks cramped.

So this has been shown on American tv? How come no build up for it?

Nothing exists more beautifully than nothing.

It was realeased on DVD in the UK on June 5th 2006. However, it is only available as part of a boxed set of eight DVD'S on the theme of Sherlock Holmes entitled 'The BBC Sherlock Holmes Collection'.

Checked on amazon.co.uk and saw the 'BBC Sherlock Holmes Collection' DVD region 2.
But it doesn't exist on amazon.com, so apparently there is no US region 1 DVD.
Darn, because it looks interesting. :(

If I get desperate enough I'll get the region 2 (I can play it on my mac). I have to have it but international shipping almost doubles the price:(

Play.com sells the zone 2 BBC box set for a very fair price (£11). (I hope posting this is ok - this is not an advert for play.com )

This particular DVD is really worth the play-com price of the box set. The story is original and mostly keeps to the biographical facts contrary to films like Becoming Jane, though it draws debatable inferences from the actual facts.

To my taste, Peter McInnerny was irritating and seemed to over-act but the rest of the cast was very good - Douglas Henshall's performance is compelling and very moving - and the story is original with an interesting twist in the end.

It has left me with the desire to find out more about Arthur Conan Doyle's life.

Thank you.
I thought Tim McInnerny as great but Doug Henshall was breathtaking.
Thanks for the Play.com url. I wonder if they ship to the US....
