6.2?!?!

How is that possible? This film was hilarious, intelligent, well acted, great script.

I agree.

It's a bit short though. I saw that it was on tonight and I thought, oh - I can at last see the first half of this great movie!

But immediately scenes came up that I'd already seen. Turns out I only missed the first 10 minutes, my initial viewing of the film. No wonder critics said that Marilyn Hack could've been developed more.

I agree, a 7.2 would be more appropriate.

I love this film; I gave it 8/10. Maybe when I watch it again, I'll upgrade. But at least the votes here appear to be an honest assessment from IMDb members, with most people voting 7 or 6. I think it's better than that, but that's their view. I hate when recent films mostly get either 1 or 10 votes based on someone's agenda.

Well, I watched it again, and I stand by my vote: 8/10 stars. Terrific film, but one of Guest's lesser efforts. Of course, he sets the bar so very high.

This movie just gets better on repeated viewings.

I adore Christopher Guest films, but I gave it a 6/10 probably because I went in expecting a Christopher Guest mockumentary. As a regular film, I just don't feel it holds it's own as well. I do like it and own it, and I agree with one poster who said Catherine O'Hara should have gotten an Oscar nom for her role as Marilyn Hack if only for the scene where she tries to cry after the nominations are announced and can't after so much plastic surgery and botox. But I just can't rate it as high as the other Guest films. It's not as funny and some of the characters don't become more endearing with time--they become more annoying. Just my opinion. I am looking forward to Guest's upcoming TV series to see what he does with that.

Signatures annoy me.

This is just not my type of movie...or my type of humor. I didn't feel in on the 'jokes' since I'm not in hollywood, I guess. I felt sorry for all of the characters (except maybe Parker Posey's- she seemed 'normal') because they all just seemed really dumb or crazy. Like the world wide interwebs/email thing. I couldn't relate to any of them. Like watching my grandparents in a movie about the future or something, and it was called Space oddessy 2010.

I usually like these type of movies but I could not get into this one at all. As an attempt at satire, it wasn't funny or clever beyond the idea.

I feel it was a failed attempt that a 6.2 is too kind
