Ava Was Unsympathetic Toward Caleb,Who Tried To Help Her

and therefore was 'cold' and 'unfeeling' just as some other human-created machines in other films.I think of Hal in 2001 and the artificial robot in Alien. My interpretation is that we will never recreate humans, just the appearance of them and they will only behave as our most lowly people do----mechanically and incapable of compassion or remorse. It's a cautionary tale that says don't mess with nature and it will always be a machine,no matter how complex it appears and how deep the inventors' hubris goes.

Agreed. The movie for some reason thought if they could show intentionality that was proof that ava was not a pzombie and had subjective consciousness and free will. And for what ever reason they though showing deception was the best way to showing intentiality. I agree taking away her empathy just made her seem like a sociopath or worse a psychopath to the which like you said to the audience just makes her more machine like which defeats the whole purpose of the movie.

In a way I wished this film was more in vein with Asimov's "I Robot" in that, the robots are not cliche evil devious bastards but have a rather complex interpretation and interaction with humans.

This film was just way too predictable in every way :(
Also... dude gets horny over the robot? c'mon man even if she's your fantasy. it's a droid

If we replicate the functions of insular cortext in correctly functioning humans we should arrive at a social robot with mirror artificial neurons capable of feeling empathy which would restrict its ability to exhibite hostile behavior towards humans. Once we master manufacturing these types of machines they'll be just as friendly as you or me.

The reality is robots and androids will become manufactured slaves that won't exhibit free will or rather will appear to do nothing more then desire to serve mankind. Any monster robots will that may appear will be a deliberate creation of a rogue sociopathic human rather then a mistake in a lab.
