i have not seen it yet, so obviously i did not vote but i can say this...
i can be pretty sure it won't be anywhere near a 1 simply because the vast majority of (at least semi-known/professionally made) movies are not 'that bad'. (i would say it's likely to land between a 5-8/10 as i can say that with confidence because unless it's really bad or boring i won't be going less than a 5 and unless it's REALLY good i won't be going higher than a 8. i am guessing it will probably be either a 6 or 7 though.)
but i usually never pay attention to the extremes when looking at the 'vote details' on IMDB to get rid of those people who don't vote honestly. because while some films are worthy of a 10 and i am sure there's some 1's out there it's pretty rare for a film to be 'that bad' and uncommon for a film to be 'that good' as you 'might' find a handful of 9's and 10's out of 10 rated films in a year at the most in general.
in general though... i don't vote less than a 5/10 for something unless it's boring. i RARELY give out 1/10's myself (i would estimate only a handful i gave a 1/10 out of the 1200+ i seen).
so basically i think anyone who REGULARLY gives out 1's or 10's should not be allowed to vote mostly because i would be willing to bet those people who give 1/10's are not being honest. all they do is skew the ratings and trying to compensate by going higher or lower is just stupid. ALWAYS GIVE YOUR HONEST OPINION OF A FILM no matter what as i always do.
p.s. as for Robert Davi... i mostly remember him playing those bad guy characters in the late 1980's (Raw Deal (1986)/Licence to Kill (1989) / Die Hard (1988) etc) as he does those well. i would say 'Licence to Kill' would be THE FILM i remember him from as he was one of the best bad guys the James Bond series has had. in fact, i have not seen him in anything since 1995.
it's not that i didn't love it, but moreso i didn't like how much it was being worshiped and overrated by the masses of people who don't spend the time watching anything other than high-budget hollywood blockbusters or are too young or indifferent to have a substantial breadth of opinions on film.
Agreed.
for the record though... i did like The Dark Knight quite a bit as i gave it a 9/10. but to be honest i think it was mostly The Joker character (i.e. Heath Ledger) that ultimately carried it to the next level as i think without The Joker character in general in The Dark Knight i most likely would have given it a 8/10 like i did for the 2005 Batman Begins film. but even without The Joker in it i still think i would have slightly liked it more than the 2005 Batman film. (for measure i am 30 years old and i seen 1200+ films)
p.s. 'Avatar' i think that one is VERY overrated as it's just a decent film (6-7/10). no where near as good as it's hype/sales or general praise on this site says it is. The Dark Knight was hands down better and sold less than half as much.
sometimes people are just trolls who just like to mess with the statistics to elicit a reaction out of people like you.
also agreed. which is why i usually look at vote details on a film and just ignore the 1's and 10's and stuff of that sort to see where the bulk of voters land when getting rid of the extremes to get a more accurate picture of how it's liked.
i also usually never comment to much about them as it seems most of them crave attention etc for some unknown reason.
i usually find myself more irked by people who rate a really amazing film a 5 or 6, as opposed to a 1, because i think they are more honestly submitting a sub-par rating.
that would be me on some films because i feel something like 'Memento' (2000) is very overrated. i think it's a 6/10 AT BEST.
i seen it's high rating on IMDB before going into it so i figured even if it was overrated it would still be at least semi good but i was wrong. i gave it a 4/10 (maybe a 5/10) because it's just not interesting for me at the end of the day as the characters are not interesting etc. i think it was mostly the idea or something that people liked in that film with the whole played in reverse stuff.
i usually like Christopher Nolan's stuff but that one was a definite miss in my book.
