These 2 Together Should Rock

from the news accounts when this story was in the paper, there's some great material for a movie here. And it's a hunch, but I think the combo of Sarandon and Fiennes would be perfect.
Only question - is there an audience for this movie?

The success of "The Constant Gardener" critically and commercially proves that there is an audience for an intelligent film with good acting. And if this film has the same qualities.....than this will be successful too.

They would be great together but for the fact that Ralph isn't exactly funny. I mean have you seen his interviews? I don't mean this in a bad way, I love the man but a comedy could die in his hands, has anybody seen maid in manhattan? But I can't wait until this comes out, go Ralph !

Fiennes is a terrific actor (as is Sarandon) and it takes a terrific actor to do terrific comedy, so yes, I think the two of them will rock the house... unless the script sucks!!

I totally agree tommynewyear-1. I think Ralph is one of the best actors I have ever seen.
I will never forget my favorite scene in "Maid In Manhattan" when he was signing an autograph and he spotted Natasha Richardson's character come out of the hotel and he didn't want her to see him. He shoved the character of Jerry in the limo and said, "Get in the car, get in the car...get in the car". LOL It was hilarious. Just that one scene and his comedic timing. I saw the comedic side of Ralph in that scene and I know he will be great in "Bernard & Doris". and I can't wait to see it. :)

Ralph in real-life tends to be shy. He doesn't like talking about himself. So during an interview where he's forced to be egotistical, he tends to get quiet.

I've just seen "Faith Healer", and I can tell you, his comedic timing is there when he wants it to be.

The scarily bad Maid in Manhattan was supposed to be a comedy?

to the user before the one before me...have you seen Wallace and Gromit and the Were-Rabbit thingy? Fiennes is hilarious in that. Yes, it's just his voice, but damn was he hysterical.

Rock now. Worry later.

Of course there is an audience for this film! If only gays will watch the movie that is already a huge audience... But seriously, i think a comedy with Ralph Fiennes and Susan Sarandon would always have an audience even if the film doesnt get good critics. By the way Fiennes as a gay is very exciting. Playing a gay man is always a chellenge for a straight actor and it can be a great success just as much as a big failor. So lets see how Rafe make the job... Actually i saw him acting as i was an extra in Sunshine in Budapest and i think he is one of the best actors of nowadays. It is really significant when he doesnt play "himself". So i think his best act is Amon Goeth in Schindler's list. I am afraid until he get at least as challenging role as that one he wont win the oscar.

i don't see why they have to make a film about this again !! i think that everyone should lay of bernard and let him rest in peace!!

I caught this on Netflix and only watched for the 2 stars. Sorry, it was really slow and boring...but Ralph gives a terrific performance. I was wondering was he even nominated for this role? If he was, then he should of won. Susan was miscast, although she always gives her best. I understand now that she is directing a film about the gorgeous Hedy Lamarr, and her brilliant mind. Can't wait to see that.
