How much money did Doris give to Bernard??

I though that was the amount left after her died.

Just watched this today. I believe it said at the very end that she left $5 million to Bernard for his own use absolutely. Then she also left him to be Trustee of the bulk of her estate and charities. She left him full power to choose his own advisors etc. so essentially, Bernard could have fired all the people Doris used but the ending seems to indicate he kept Tate on.

When Bernard died a mere 3 years later, due to effects of alcoholism, his personal fortune was $3.5 million. So he only burned through 1.5 mill in 3 years I guess. As for the bulk of Doris's fortune, which Bernard was managing, at his death he willed all of it to the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

Bernard didn't will the "bulk of Doris's fortune" anywhere. It would have remained in the various trusts it was already in. What the movie said was only that Bernard left his own $3.5M to the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

I think it was like 5 million, and control of all her charities and some of her estates I think.
Bernard died three years later of alcoholism.
What a weird movie.
