Lloyd

was lloyd's character purposefully elusive in this movie?

honestly, was there a way to tell whether he truly disappeared or if something else more sinister happened to him but agnes did not want to believe it?

lloyd obviously existed with the toys and clothes and jerry's reaction to seeing these things but the movie seems to be purposefully indecisive about lloyd and what actually happened to him.

what happened to lloyd?

Lloyd disappearing is what unhinged her in the first place, it's what made her such a victim, ripe and ready for the next nutbag to come along....I loved this movie, the acting was freakin brilliant

I think you just nailed it, Idarrisa.

I wondered too what might have happened to Lloyd. I guess he was just snatched like a number of children are every year. But it seems wild that Agnes could turn her back for a moment and the next he'd be gone. Maybe she was on drugs even then, and 'turning her back for a minute' was actually a much longer time. Anyway, hard to believe a child could be grabbed in a grocery store in what seems to be a very small town, with no leads, until the case goes cold. But we have an unreliable narrator -- Agnes may have lost custody to a relative because of a drug/alcohol addiction, and she just didn't want to think about it. Or Jerry may have accidentally killed him (maybe why he was in jail?). Jerry didn't want to talk about Lloyd, but I don't recall if he said anything to confirm that Lloyd had been snatched. I just remember that he confirmed Lloyd was gone and no one wanted to talk about it. I think Lloyd was real, and had disappeared, but how or why wasn't ever really explained.
