some people are just being mean

i watched the movie last night and i found it quite decent. i agree it is not a great movie but i think some people are just being mean by thrashing it so badly. i cannot give a rating of 1 star out of 10 to even the worst movie that was ever made because film making in itself is not an easy task so at least give the credit for the hard work but this one certainly deserved 6 stars if not more.

as i see the movie, you have to watch it in the retrospect. all those who died in that attack on september 11 had their own stories to tell which was not connected to the events that led to the attacks. in the movie these are just some characters from different fields of life who happen to be there at the time of attack. i don't think that most of them had any idea of US policies in middle east or had even heard the name of osama. there was no rule except for the laws of probability that led these people to the place of action. these are decent people living their own lives not connected to the conflict in anyway and yet... this is the whole point of the movie. that there is no poetic justice to life. just because you have been good all your life and took care of your ill father doesn't mean that you are in someway protected from above. just because your mother spends all her savings to send you to the US doesn't give you any armour against the evil. all the people who died in those attacks were just like you and me who just lost to the laws of probability.

i agree that i would expect a better direction style from Naseer and not the usual new age style where all youngsters have to crack jokes, laugh and talk in loud voices all the time but as far as idea is concerned i think it is a good one to communicate as a movie.

totally agree.....that's what i learned from the movie too
i think people who are thrashing this movie were really upset by the fact that KANK got thrashed by a lot of users here.

I agree the film making is not easy. So it should be left to those who have the talent. God help the credibility of talented actors who want to join the ranks of many talent less Directors of Indian cinema who are able to generate finance and goodwill of some fine talent but only mange to churn out drivel. It was painful watching for about 20 minutes and could not bear it any more. This from a man whom I admired since he first appeared in Nishant all those years ago. If he was to listen to his own comments about people who make Indian cinema, he would himself disown this movie. What a shame he has to ruin his credibility just for a whim!

I won't be so hasty in passing a judgement on Naseer's talent on directing a film. He has been directing plays for donkeys years and if you have seen any of his plays you will agree that as far as theatre is concerned he is a top notch director. I agree that film directing is a different ball game because there are lot of other factors involved but Naseer surely has enough talent to evolve himself into a good one.

If only you had the patience to watch the movie beyond 20 minutes you would have realized that it is not a bad movie after all, at least nothing to be ashamed of. Good performances, engaging in parts and even few glimpses of good direction. I don't think that there is any whim involved. He is not new to direction so it was a logical step for him. he may have missed the bulls eye in the first one but who knows about tomorrow.

i just watched the movie and was curious what others thought. I expected it to be sloppier but it wasn't too bad.

Naseer is a fine actor and at best this could be summed as a decent effort for a first time director. But to justify this film as good, based on the director's credibilty as an actor, would be like saying Sofia Copolla would naturally make great films! Sorry I don't miss a chance to take a shot at l'il Sofie ;)

On a serious note, having seen his films and plays I could only expect him to do a lot better with some more experience, given his talent and years in the business. I watched this, despite poor reviews, owing to tremendous admiration for Naseer. I may not be that loyal next time

PEACE!
