Interesting

I thought it was like a live action version of the anime InuYasha at first I mean the main female character's name was Kikyo and Kibakichi was very similar in some form to InuYasha.

I definitely got an InuYasha vibe from watching it as well. You had the demon who appeared as a human, with long hair and fangs, and been mistreated by humans as well as a young woman named Kikio. That was about it though. There may have been some inspiration from InuYasha, but I don't think it's like they decided to make it live action and R-Rated. Keep in mind, InuYasha uses a lot of elements that are not uncommon in Japan, ranging from elements in myth and folklore to modern story elements. They could have simply taken inspiration from the same place and the name Kikio might have been a coincidence.

OK that is about like saying the movie blade and the movie Vampire hunter D are similar; because you have vampires hunting vampires..

But that is besides the point.. My knowledge of Japanese is limited to what I've learnt in it's folklore.. How common is the name Kikyo.. Is it as common as say Elisabeth (Liz, Beth, Lisa etc.) is as a name??
