How many people here are from Brooklyn College?

Hey all! Just wanted to see how many BC peeps are here on this site. A big Hello! to you all. Hope everyone did well on their midterms.

BTW, I remember that about a month ago, there was a small film crew in the middle of the quad (it was around 6pm on either a Tuesday or a Thursday). Does anyone here know what that was about?
Cheers to the weekend!

How did you do on your midterm? I only got back one of my test grades. The professor for my other class has been sick, so she haven't been in to hand us our test yet. I hope I did well, since there was a lot of information in that class. Take care.

Yup, I only have 2 classes. lol. I'm a part-time student since I work full-time during the day. Ironically, I work at KCC. Geesh, you have a full plate of classes. I hope you'll do well on all of them; but it does sound like you're a very good student. (must be all the coffee drinking). I'm taking Core 1 as well. As a matter of fact, I have a quiz on Antigone and The Medea later. I'm waiting for my grade for Core 9.

That was a commerical shoot for some drug company.

Hey, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if it was a real shoot or if it was a shoot for a class project. Not that I really really needed to know, I'm just nosey.

Also, does anyone notice how we're completely surrounded by Starbucks? (I had mention this in some other post).

Oh yeah, and I'm a transfer student, so I don't really know what year I'm in. I think I'm either an upper sophomore or a lower junior. While I do have a bunch of credits and an Associates degree, I'm basically starting from scratch, since I'm going into a different major.

Thanks for responding!

I'm a junior...I wish I knew that SJP was gonna be there...I would have been more nosey lol

A big hello to you too! I'm from BC...sort of. I work on campus in the public safety dept. I got to meet and take a picture with SJP (she was really, really quite nice.) As for Tuesday or Thursday around 6PM, there was a pain reliever medication commercial being shot on campus. Hope that helps. Take care!

Deusexmachina - lol! How appropriate that a headache medicine was shot at a school, right around the time when papers and midterms were announced.
Thanks for the tip on the coffee. But I do have a question; is the coffee you're talking about made by the school or is it sold at the little Starbucks cart by the window? (although, according to the price you quoted, it doesn't sound like it's from Starbucks. lol) I have a class at Boylan, so maybe I'll pick one up when I head in. I usually get my frappacino fix at the full-blown Starbucks. I'm a bit miffed that they've been out of the chocolate chip stuff for a week or 2 now. I'm also miffed that the copy store next door (Far Better Copy??) always seem to be closed.

Hey Anewactor, thanks for the info. Wow, how lucky of you to get a pic w/her. She sounds nice, since she was willing to chat and take pics w/the people there.

Well, since I am at a movie message board, I guess it's only appropriate to discuss the movie. I was just looking at the title of this movie and I realized, I don't get it. What exactly does "spinning into butter" mean? Being that English is my 2nd language, perhaps it's just a phrase I haven't heard yet...or maybe it's lost in translation to me. I've heard of "churning the butter" lol.

Thanks, I'll check it out either tonight or Thursday. hehe, and if it's not good, I will come here and ask for my money back from you. j/k
Also, thanks for clarifying the title's reasoning for me. It sounds like it might apply to this movie.

Deusexmachina2005 - sorry, I know the story you're speaking of, and this movie is unrelated... I was on set for 4 days shooting on Governor's Island.

There were a series of books here in the USA back in the 20's or 30's featuring a character called "Little Sambo" - He was a small black child, and as was typical back then, he was drawn as a stereotype of African Americans were in those days.

The story in particular was of Little Sambo chasing tigers around a tree... "And he ran and ran and chased and chased those tigers until he spun himself right into butter."

This movie is based on a play which was based on the books from the 20's and 30's about "Little Sambo" - it's a racially provocative story, hence the connection. Has nothing to do with "giving up" or churning milk into butter in order to get out of the pot... sorry.

Hey, I finally tried the coffee last night. I'm afraid to say, I didn't have a good experience with it. I asked for the hazlenut coffee, since it was self-serve. The guy told me the one marked "French Vanilla" is it, but he had the wrong sign on. So I poured myself a cup of it. It didn't taste like either Hazelnut or French Vanilla (unless if the Hazlenut flavoring is very mild), I'm very disappointed. I was there at around 6pm, so maybe he was getting ready to close and just want to get rid of whatever's there. Oh wells, I'll try it again, but if it sucks, I'm asking you for my money back. j/k

Thanks for your well wishing, good luck to you as well.

Gee, just my luck! The day I go is the day they're down. The hazelnut is regular coffee from the pot and not from the cappucino machine right? Well, I'll try it again next week.

Hey, sorry I took so long to reply. I finally got to try it last week. You're right, it's really good, very tasty. I had misunderstood you and went to the wrong counter. I went to the counter that was between the stairs and the cafeteria. I finally found it when I went into the main cafeteria...right by the cashiers. And since it was yummy, I'm not going to ask you for my money back. I think I might owe you a cup for introducing me to it. lol.

Good luck on your finals!

Yer welcome. And yeah, it was cool getting a pic with SJP, even though I came back to campus on Saturday to get it! LOL! (At least I wasn't in uniform then, so that made it less formal) I also got to meet actor Derrick Simmons who is also acting in the film. Always cool to meet fellow actors.

They did a bunch of shooting for this movie there about a week ago actually...so you might not have seen the crew but they were filming at Brooklyn College all week for spinning into butter

Hey whus good all, I'm from Brooklyn College. As a matter of fact, I'm in the BC library as I write this post. I remember when the film crew were on campus a while back. I look forward to seeing this movie and the cinematography (sp?) used.

By the way, I jsut read that the lost the reso of their budget for this movie. So now Sarah has to go back into pre production and get more funds. I just red it this morning. All in all, I hope she finds what she's looking for so that it can come to life.

By the way, I aced my midterms.
