Never being releaced?

The IMDB main news page says that this movie may be perminately shelved because it can not find a destributer.

I can't believe that it would not even go to DVD?

Possibly straight to the bargain bin,so they can at least make back some of the cash wasted on it.

It can't be THAT bad, can it? Sure it has Sarah Jessica Parker but she still has an inexplicable popularity.

it can't be that bad, you ask..

Oh, yes, yes it can and you can now sit through it as it bleats its way thru Cable TV.

I was so astounded by the stuopid speech SJP makes about the big "scary black men" in "puffy coats" with "weird hair" that I Tivoed the dern thing to play for others. We all have the same question? What madness possessed these people??? The script is stupifyingly awful and the acting...worse. It's paternalizing and racist and it's supposed to be about racism.

If SJP thought it was OK to stand up there and make that dumb speech she makes, something is very wrong with her judgement. It's painful to watch the first time and then simply hilarious that this pampered former child actress is soooooo out of it that she thinks it's OK to make those kinds of speeches .

I mean c'mon! Not the "big scary black men" in "puffy coats" again. Ooooooh, I'm so scared I'm going quit my job and go work at a fake college on an abandoned island in New York harbor.

BTW, in my opinion, the people of New Hampshire are the real victims - the film paints them all as racists.

Its not the best movie in the world, but its not the worst either. I kinda wonder how Spike would have done it.

I think SJP did a pretty good job playing the somewhat ditzy, somewhat nervous white girl.

As far as the scary black men in puffy coats go, if you actually listen to her speech she clearly says that it was the "the one or two who tend to dominate attention" that triggered her racial apprehension, what not the majority of the population. She was basically defining how stereotypes work.

In my estimation, the movies deeper issue was not about the conflict between individuals, but in inner conflict SJP and the other characters had in matching up their idealism with their own reality.
