this film kicked ass, and heres why! (read!)

very small budget, still managed to make a very convincing film, the effects were excellent, and it gripped you from start to finish. Typical storyline but done with a gloss rarely seen in dtv's!

Agreed. Solid direct-to-DVD entertainment with especially good production values, as well as an appearance by a notable actor (other performances are fine, too, even if the female lead lacks a bit of charisma).
I didn't notice any cast member returning from the first one, which would have been an added bonus (even a secondary character), but other than than, you can't really fault Hollow Man II.

Shut up, you stupid Hollywood shill!

The original Hollow Man is one of my favorite movies of all time. I don't usually have high expectations for sequels but I must say I actually thought this was a very good one! I was really thrilled by the opening scene with Griffin beating up Dr. Villiers at the party. In this movie we can see the invisible man in action right from the start in an effective way! Well ok, there wasn't anything special about the story but I think all the things (even the cheap tricks) worked in this film and I had fun watching it!

I should watch Basic Instinct 2 next, I'm interested in seeing all these sequels to Paul Verhoeven films.

Most people are so ungrateful to be alive, but not you, not anymore.

this movie was really great, i didnt expect it to be on par with the original, and for that i got a great ride. i have never seen a straight to dvd movie that was so well made!

reply

This movie was surprisingly good, if you think that this was straight to dvd.
I wasnt expecting anything from this movie, so I was pretty pleased.

reply

nope so bad its already on tv.

im watching it on sci fi channel now.

reply

As far as SciFi Channel movies go it was ok, not as bad as many of the movies they show are. This isn't science fiction though.

reply

"This isn't science fiction though."

Injecting someone with a syrum to make them completely invisible isn't Science Fiction...please explain.

The mode of the story is made to appear in the guise of science fiction but it's more fantasy than anything.

I believe I read somewhere or saw somewhere the fact stated that invisibility is a hollywood myth. If true visual invisibility is even possible it would not be via biology. You'd have to really change the structure of the atoms and the practicality of it would not work. Real science fiction has to have some facts to back it up. Has anyone come close to making anyone invisible, no?

I see nothing wrong with fantasy but, tend to favor harder science fiction (stories based on real research with real science to back them up - From Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Ben Bova, Stephen Baxter, etc...). But don't call something it isn't.

Simply having an alien, spaceship, timetravel, biology, or physics mentioned don't make a story science fiction. If it gets the facts wrong then it's just not SF.

I guess it's a question of percentages when I watch or read something. This was 2% science fiction for the brief mention or showing of something science but beyond that it's fantasy and action. It can't be science fiction for just mentioning something in science. I'd argue most TV and movies doesn't come close to pure science fiction (no time to explain everything) books are a better medium for it.

Not sure we disagree. I thought the first was ok and would agree this was not as good as the first. Both were mediocre movies.

Lt Frank was annoying yeah and he seemed to have an agenda of his own or a hidden past, was not much of a talker either! I hate that *beep* about moody cops, he should have shown more emotion and character development...

It was a strange ending though...they could have wrapped up the whole Hollowman franchise by extending the film another 10 minutes and allowing Maggie to give Frank the invisibilty buffer serum! But oh yeah .....they didn't cos of Hollowman 3 lol....Hollywood at its best!

whatever..this movie was disappointing. Loved the first movie.

I also liked this movie. Thinking about it, the reason is probably because I was disappointed in the first one. I saw the first with my friend and we were impressed by the spfx but were annoyed by the story. It's been a while since I saw it, but I think we both agreed that it would have been a more interesting movie if Kevin Bacon's character hadn't been such an immoral a**hole BEFORE he went invisible. It was pretty obvious that a self-centered jerk was gonna lose it with a heady ability like that. Usually in invisible man movies, it's about how the power of that corrupts people and they go mad. He went WAY too easy to some murderous creep and was pretty predictable in that sense. You couldn't really reason with him before he became invisible, good luck convincing him that he's doing anything wrong after.

The storyline in this one was much more interesting to me and I was surprised that for a sequel and direct to DVD film that it was as good as it was.

There are a couple of sequels to sci-fi/horror films that I tend to like more than the originals, even though the budgets were lower. This was one. Vampires 2: Los Muertos was another. I'm sure there are a few others that just don't come to mind right now. The sequels I like better are most likely because I was disappointed in the originals from the get-go, but if you like the originals, I suppose I could see why you wouldn't like the sequels. Also, I suppose, the first movies tend to be B-movies already, just with A-list casts and spfx. Nothin' wrong with B-movies though, to me. If you're a sci-fi/horror fan, it's kinda your bread and butter. ;-)

I agree with you 100%.This movie was great, the first was awful. There was more of a story in this one.In the first one the invisible man leaves the lab, commits two crimes and then returns to the lab to kill everybody in it.

Which is weird because since the project had been cancelled there shouldn't have BEEN anybody in the lab!!!

I should have known those alien maggots booby trapped this sub
