Anyone else think its ridiculous that the locals in this series talk like stereotypical bumkins. Anyone from Shropshire out there, I'm from Cheshire, now obviously theres a differing accent from Shropshire but even in the rural parts of Cheshire no one talks like the yokels on this programme.
shareI agree with you, but saying that, you'll find that in most comedy programmes, such as all Essex Girls being considered...well you know. If the characters were protrayed as 'real' people from those areas then 90% of the jokes wouldn't be possible, as they really rely on the accents and enviroments of the areas.
shareI'm from shropshire :D. I can honestly say at first i was sorta offended by the show. Just because its not like that at all. But then i figured, what the hell. Thanks to Auf Wiedersehen, pet i'm sure people think newcastle is full of Oz's.
I guess sterotypes help make comedy funny.
