Another Version

I remember another version of this movie, which was live action. It fit almost exactly with the original story that Hans Christian Anderson wrote, but I don't think it was called the Snow Queen. Does anyone know what it was called?

It was made quite a while ago, and was really simple.

I remember what you are talking about, I rememeber watching a movie with the little girl named Gerta and her best friend playing on the roof and the boy slips or something and ends up with the snow queen or the ice queen... I was much younger when I saw it, at least 13 years ago. The only thing I really remember is the Queen's kingdom was constructed of ice and she wore a huge white fur coat... I know I have it on tape somewhere, I'll have to find it sometime and I'll post who is in it and anything else I can find out. Hope I was somewhat helpful!

That sounds almost exactly right!!! And in the thing he has a slide puzzle that he has to play or something... and I know that she loses all of her memories when she gets to the old woman with the flowers, until she sees a rose in her hat... (that's part of the way it sticks better to the original story, but meh.) If that's the same thing as the VHS copy you had I would love more info!

Check out this one: Snezhnaya koroleva

I think I saw the same one when I was very very young. I only remember it vaguely. I just remember a room made of ice. But this seems about the right year.

Take a look and see.

The version everyone is talking about here is definitly the "Faerie Tale Theatre" episode version (here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0236206/maindetails). I just watched it the other day from the complete DVD set of the show. It has all the details mentioned here: Kay falling off the roof, the rose in the hat, the slide puzzle given to Kay by The Snow Queen.
