Automavision, am I crazy or is every article wrong???
I just saw the film and had a great time. The audience I was in laughed and laughed and laughed. Anywho I wanted to find out more about the Automavision process and how it worked. Every review I have been able to find describes it as so
"This entails choosing the best possible fixed camera position and then allowing a computer to choose when to tilt, pan or zoom." http://film.guardian.co.uk/interview/interviewpages/0,,1878115,00.html
Now am I crazy or was there pretty much no tilting, panning or zooming in the film except for the few hand operated shots from outside the office looking into the windows when Lars is narrating?
The way I saw the film the framing appears to be quite random and locked off. Then there are frequent cuts to other shots which might be from a higher angle, tighter, cutting off a persons body etc. So what I am saying is that Automavision randomly frames up the shot, locks off, and then they shoot a take. During the take there is no zooming, panning or tilting.
Does anyone else see it this way or was I just not paying attention? Did anyone see any zooms, pans or tilts apart from those shot outside of the office building??
Answer please as it's driving me mad.
