Hi guys! Just wondering what you think the best acting performance by Michael Keaton is. Personally, I'd say its Clean and Sober, he's just amazing in that movie, changing the way that he was perceived as an actor, and showing his complete acting range. Be interested to hear what everyone thinks.
I really liked him in "Desperate Measures." But I also liked him a lot in "Multiplicity." my friend actually got me his autograph when he was in Newport, CA a month or so ago. He's an amazing actor. What is "My Life" and "Clean and Sober" about?? and when were they made?
My Life, which I just saw this week, is about the character's last few months with cancer. He's making a video journal sorta thing for his unborn baby, and it shows his progression through the final stages. Was a good movie.
In Clean and Sober MK plays an executive who is an alcoholic and drug addict. One morning he wakes to find that the woman that he just slept with, has died from an overdose. The police suspect Keaton of being involved, and at the same time, he has gambled money from his boss's company. So he goes to rehab to hide from the police, not to cure his problem. Over the course of the movie, you see Keaton's character begin to accept his problem, and in the process falls in love with a fellow addict played by Kathy Baker. Morgan Freeman plays one of the main councellors. Its a great movie and shows Keaton at his best: aggressive, charming, funny, and in many ways, broken. Should have been Oscar nominated, but sadly wasn't. But apparently it was this performance plus Beetlejuice that led to him getting the part of Batman, as before he was perceived as a comic actor. Well worth seeing.
I liked Michael in several movies. Like Brendan, he's very versatile, and good in just about everything he does. Can't wait to see Brendan's and his new movie.
Michael Keaton's good, but I couldn't disagree with you more about Brendan Fraser. Versatility??? Watch School Ties, Gods and Monsters, George of the Jungle, and Still Breathing and then tell me he has no versatility. Oh, yeah, and let's not forget the Mummy franchise.
George of the Jungle was pathetic you can't include that. He took on different characters but that doesn't necasserily mean he's versatile yet good at the same time. Michael Keaton, Bruce Wayne - Beetlejuice. Enough said. Although I will admit that I loved Crash and I guess his performance in that was satisfactory.
"Ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight"
No sense arguing with someone who's waving guns around. But I'll stick with my opinion - Brendan Fraser is one of the most talented actors out there right now and he's darn easy to look at, too. Just MHO.
Michael Keaton is my favorite actor so I am biased. But I love Brendan Fraser too. They are both talented, wonderful actors who have had long distinguished careers. And you can bring out George of the Jungle all you want and complain. Michael has had some duds too (Jack Frost anyone?) You can do that with any actor because they all have made an awful movie somewhere.
To my point (and I have one ) This new movie will be awesome!!!!! Seeing both of them together in one movie is like heaven and I can't wait.
I'd have to say #1 is most definately "My Life" he should have been nominated for an Oscar for that part, played it so well. Other than that, my second favorite Micheal Keaton film is "Multiplicity". I've only seen Batman and it's sequel a couple of times, years ago, and am not really qualified to comment on those, although I remember him having a very good performance in those as well. "Gung Ho" was also quite humorous. I would like to see Micheal in a few more starring roles again.. he's really so under-rated.
#1 My Life . i will have to see clean and sober and multiplicity , I dont think theres anyone how could match Beetlejuice the way Michael does.Im a big fan of batman since i saw Michael on the bat suit, to me he is the ultimate Batman, from the other 3 guys that played batman later , Bale did a good job but , michael is just killer and plays bruce wayne a lot better than Bale . And thats beacuse his versatility , he is so underrated.
I personally loved him in The Paper. Him, Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, and Glenn Close were excellent in that film. Glad to see him getting some work. I though Hollywood was shunning him after Multiplicity. He was hilarious as Dogberry and Beetlejuice.
