I still felt bad for Brendan's character even though.... (spoilers).

....He royally screwed over Michael Keaton's character. I just didn't really get with the whole transition with Keaton's character because the adultery aspect of his personality really stuck which prevented me from really sympathizing. Throughout the whole movie, they spent most of the time building up the sympathy for Brendan Fraser's character, I just pretty much stuck with it until the end, not really caring about the fact that he was just a harsh character.

I completely agree, after he slept with her I lost all sympathy for him. Although I may have felt a little something for Amber's character there at the end.

I don't understand her role, did her and her fiance use him or she actually fell for him and regretted it.
