Whoa...

Did anybody catch the preview of tomorrow night's show at the end of Intelligence (cracking good thriller, there, btw)? Looks like we'll finally be getting to see the pedophile storyline crack--or at least we'll be seeing Mick come out swinging.

I personally did the VCR thing with Intelligence, but just did rewind to see the DVCH preview for this upcoming episode. The pedophile storyline is too my favourite of the current season, the one most true to the spirit of DVI. Despite the explosive nature of the revelation in the preview, I can see this storyline taking the entire season if not longer to resolve itself.

snowleopard, glad to hear that you thought Intelligence worth watching. I have yet to do so and probably won't get around to it for at least the next couple of days, but I was (and admittedly still am somewhat) sceptical as to the quality of Intelligence based on Haddock's last foray into TV moviedom that I know of, that being The Life which I hated with a passion (overwrought, sentimental, unrealistic crap is how I would categorize The Life). But I am looking forward with great anticipation to watching Intelligence.

I sincerely hope that this storyline takes the rest of the season. I want to see lots and lots of vicious Mick vs. Brian deathmatching. It's the antique Roman in me. Mick certainly seems up for it. Brian, bless him, seems blissfully unaware that he's a deer in Mick's headlights. He's gonna wet his diapers when he finds that out. Mick always scared the crap outta him.

Regarding Intelligence, well, I never did see The Life, so I can't compare the two. However, I'm no big fan of sentimentality and I thought it was fine. Not sentimental at all, while still giving us two protags to root for. Yes, there are quite a few scenes between Jimmy and his daughter. But while such scenes generally make me gag, for some reason, I didn't mind them here. As in Desolation Sound, Ian Tracey managed to strike up a comfortable rapport with the child actress playing his daughter and got a good, non-sappy performance out of her. I'm not a fan of cute kids and robots in any way, shape or form, yet I found the last scene in the car quite touching.
