Laurent Bouzereau was there First

I just watched THE SHARK IS STILL WORKING on the Australian Blu-ray release. It was very entertaining, but a lot of it was done first by Laurent Bouzereau in his 1995 THE MAKING OF JAWS documentary.

My US DVD has this documentary running to 60 mins, but the Blu-ray disc clocks it at 120 mins. Is this perhaps the laserdisc version? I don't know how long that version ran for, but it was a nice surprise to have this longer version. Laurent is a legend, and it's great that Universal acknowledged this on the Blu-ray. There's many details in Laurent Bouzereau's doco that are not in the 2007 (1 hour 41 min) documentary, e.g. the casting process.

What did others think?

So I think I have the U.S. 30th Anniversary Version, which has the original 2 hour LB 'doc' from the LaserDisc.

Although the LB doc covers most of the film-making process. TSISW goes beyond, hence the subtitle "Legacy & Impact of Jaws" I always love hearing new stories from the cast, but the new doc also goes back to Martha's Vineyard to visit filming locations and talk to some of the locals who were in the film too.

I wouild call this a fan inpsired documentary that usually has a differnt angle than most standard 'making of' docs I usually see.

Watching the Shark is Still Working doc now. I have to remember it's not about the 'making' of Jaws, but about its 'legacy'.

As for the Bouzereau's docs, I had the 25th anniversary edition, then upgraded to the 30th anniversary - and yup, have just upgraded to the blu-ray - and I have to say I prefer the shortest version of the Bouzereau doc, the 60 minute one.

I prefer the shorter one as well, I bought the 25th anniversary VHS back in 2001 and was completely enthralled by the making of documentary that came with it. When I got the Blu Ray, Bouzreau's documentary was there, but found it a bit overlong and less compelling. I'm not complaining, but that's just the way I felt.

Also, the 60 minute version had a lot more still overlays and music, which I felt added to the overall viewing experience. Something that was missing in the 2 hour version.
