watch Chung King Express. I felt at times it sort of payed homage to the weird love story.

I felt it was more of an homage to Woody Allen's Manhattan. Tons of similarities.

*SPOILERS* - Do not read if you haven't seen the film!

Similarities between this and Manhattan:

- A guy who's unhappy with his career in the entertainment industry (In this film, Liam wanted better roles which didn't rely on Asian stereotypes. Woody Allen was a TV writer wanting to write more meaningful shows)
- He meets upper class high schooler (Beverly Hills vs Upper East Side Manhattan), is conflicted about the relationship due to age difference
- Meets an older woman, decides it is a more socially accepted relationship, and dumps high schooler, leaving her crying
- Realizes to accept his love for teenager, runs all the way to her house at end, only to find her leaving the country (Paris in this film, London in Manhattan).

Difference is it is a more modern take with younger (better looking) leads and includes issues of cultural identity, and generational barriers between immigrant father and American son. Which is better? Manhattan was a classic but this film comes pretty darn close!
