What makes a good chase scene in horror/thriller/etc. movies?

Let's make a list of what you think makes a good chase scene, I'll start

1. Almost get caught/killed by your attacker but escaping at the last second

A good, long fight.

That's all it needs.

Good things but I'm kind of confused as to why everyone likes Sasha's chase scene from Urban Legend. I watched it and didn't really like it. I mean Tara Reid's screaming was kinda annoying. It wasn't that long, and she didn't put up much of a fight. She got cornered but just flailed around and got knocked off the stairs. The only part i liked was the very end where she got killed and the killer gave that creepy wave to the girl down below

The only reason that Sasha's chase scene is somewhat popular is because people find that horror movies with actual chase scenes are so rare nowadays, that anything that does not result in the girl cowering in the corner and screaming "No!!!!" is a memorable chase scene.

Creativity is what makes a good chase scene. It's not about running from room to room, plainly, from the killer (which is exactly what this movie did at alot of points) it's not very interesting to watch again. A chase scene requires a creative setting, somewhat of the victim fighting back, and a good death in the end (gory or not gory, I prefer to leave the death to the "imagination").

Good chase scenes (memorable; everyone knows them):
- Sarah Michelle Gellar, original Last Summer
- Paris Hilton, House Of Wax remake
- Eddie Benton, Prom Night original

There's plenty more, but only ones I can remember. Oh yeah, Valentine has some death scenes, not much chases, but full with suspense. And obviously, plenty more from classics like Black Christmas, Halloween, etc.
