This is great

This has to be clearly one of the best Australian movies so far. I totally enjoyed this and can see it winning multiple AFI's. I'm not saying it is oscar material but hey not everything has to be. Well done to the cast, crew, writers and everyone else involved. Lets hope that there are more movies of this calibre to come out and give our young Aussie actors a real go.

I have to say I totally disagree. The script and story was confusing and illogical - the story had holes all through it that didn't add up; the characters were poorly conceived and executed; the ending just plain sucked and made no sense. It was aiming for a weird coming-of-age story that doesn't really do anything whilst trying to appeal with a quirky odd-ball flavour. Neither work in this film.

On the whole, I find that Australian movies are a rather sad bunch for the most part: they're either misfiring on a strange quirky/semi-emotional 'real' trip, or just plain misguided (and arguable boring too). I think it stems from the fact that the Australian movie talent is, for the most part, very immature and struggling too hard to distinguish itself rather than simply focusing on making good movies.

I hope this film wins nothing. I wish I could get back the rental fee.

Being Australian I hate to say this, but I think your description of the industry is rather accurate. Though this definitely wasn't the worst Australian film I've seen. I thought it was one of the better ones actually.

I would like to know who the target audience was. For me ,if the writer/director had kept it moving towards the teen/kids audience, and released it during the Summer School holidays, it would have been a smash.

But she went all "adult" and finished up with an M rating. So there goes the pre-teen audience. She must have hoped to pick up some adult audience, but I dont know if I too many adults would have been game to seen going to see a movie about schoolgirls with an M rating.

For me, she should re-shoot the last 15 minutes to fit in with the PG theme of the rest of the movie.. Then re-release it next Summer.
