As a fan of the tv series I was underwhelmed but still decent enough but should had been better and funnier.

It's that man again!!

The film is only moderately funny but my biggest gripe with it is that this version of Alan is not the one we know from the TV series. He looks different (coming across a more middle aged version of Steve Coogan than AP) - the change of hairstyle and costume was a mistake. The ageing makeup of I'm Alan Patridge Series 2 has gone and his overall self-important/self-serving nature is toned down. Not enough was made of Lynn or Mike either. It just came across as half-hearted. Maybe Alan is not a strong enough character to carry a film - I think Tommy Saxondale has more depth and as much as I would love a third series of that i am not sure TS is film material.
