English subtitles???

Hello.

I found this show on Swedish television and watched a couple of episodes. They don't send anymore now, but I really want to watch the rest... The problem is that I don't understand German, and therefore I am in need of subtitles...

I have searched for the dvd on several webshops, but they don't seem to be with subtitles.

Does anyone here know what I can do? I really want to know how it goes with this crazy family....! :)

For starters ... GREAT to have someone from "the outside world" come in *winks* I would love to help you but sadly there are, as of yet, no DVD's out for any other country then Germany.

reply

Ah, yes... That's what I thought :(

I guess I'll just have to try to remember this show for another time, and check if someone have done something about it then. It's a weird and funny family, and I really feel like watching more than the three episodes I've seen...!

reply

Well, maybe it will come again. I recently learned that it's on in Italy so ... why not where you live, again? ;)

reply

yes i confirm it have been broadcasted on italian MTV channel, nice and funny show.

reply

Yes!
Mtv Italy has broadcasted the 2 season for 3 times during the last 5 months!
Everybody in Italy is waiting for the new season!
But what about Germany..?! Has Das Erste put the new season on air or not?

reply

I'm afraid we'll have to wait quite a bit longer. I think they only started filming very recently or maybe they haven't even started yet at all.. I read somewhere that the 3rd season will be broadcast in autumn 2008.

reply

oh.. I see.. what a pity!!! thanx for the info anyway..

The first episode is on YouTube with English subtitles now:

There's a few typos, etc., but in general the subtitles are pretty good.

reply

Yes, someone on another forum also told me that the 3rd season won't be shown in Germany before autumn 2008. :o(

I think it's amazing how you all watched it in German without really knowing any German and still found it funny!? The funniest aspect of the show is definitely Lena. Her sarcastic thoughts and remarks are just hilarious! I actually just watch the show because of her.

Was it at least dubbed in Italy if it was on your MTV all the time?

reply

Yes! It was dubbed in italian!! Fortunatly .. but I do agree with you:in this tv series actors are so spontaneous and good at acting that the meaning "core" reaches all kinds of audience, even a non-german one! Lena is very funny, yeah.
For exemple, tonight the episodes of the second season will be shown, and I cant help wacthing them!!
I really hope that the 3rd season will be on air very very soon!!!

Hello,

I know you posted this a long time ago bu I also had the same problem. I absolutely love this show and for some reason, even after all these years and its apparent success, there is still no version with English subtitles. not even available on dvd. it is so frustrating.
However, I thought I would mention here that I did eventually find a website that has uploaded really good english subtitles to the videos. They only did this in November 2016 and only season 1 is available right now but it says on their website that they are uploading all the episodes. (Sooo happy about this)
You have to subscribe to the website though. but I think it is definitely worth it and the website has a large range of European shows available with English subs.
So i thought i'd just put this out there for anyone else interested.

Also the first episode of Turkish for Beginners is available to watch free.
