Does anyone know why this has never come out on DVD or video in the UK? My guess is that it might soon, as they recently broadcast a feature length version (all 3 episodes merged) on BBC3, which seemed to have additional scenes not shown in the previous 3-part version. Anyone heared anything?

I'm from the Netherlands, and they released it along with Nigel's earlier dinosaur specials The Giant Claw and Land of Giants as 'Walking With Dinosaurs Specials' (slightly misleading as it doesn't include The Ballad of Big Al). If they released it here it must have been released in the UK, as well- it's an UK program after all.
What were those additional scenes? I'm interested.

Well Dutch90, if I can remember correctly, I'm sure the earlier version did not have the scene where they tested the smell suit on a dummy and juvenile Liopleurodon. One bit the head off the dummy when they attatched peices of squid to it. I think they extended the orthocone section too, with a part on the land showing the team put up their tents and settle down for a night in the tranquil world.
Nigel's two earlier adventures came out on UK DVD, but after emailing the BBC, they told me that the Sea Monsters special had not been released commercially, God knows why. They advised me to write to BBC Worldwide, requesting it to be released over here, this I have done, I was darn right upset when my video recorder played up trying to record the feature-length version, Saturday evening on BBC3, curse this new digital TV set up! :o{

they both have extras-interviews with the director and small featurettes on the cgi

I just checked the "CD WOW" website, and I couldn't find it, was "Sea Monsters" on a sperate DVD to "The Land of Giants & The Giant Claw"?
I have a chance to obtain the Dutch region 2 DVD of the three specials on ebay at the moment, but I don't really know much about it. Does anyone know what special features there are? And is "Sea Monsters" one episode or three?
The dvd i bought was the one described above....Chased by Dinosaurs (region 1)...which included 3 half-hour episodes of sea monsters.... i assumed this was the only release....is this the case?
share"Chased by Dinosaurs" was not the only release. It was also released in the US on a Discovery Channel DVD and it was released in Holland, basically the same as Chased by Dinosaurs only entitled "Walking with Dinosaurs Specials"
I just bought the Dutch one on ebay. "Sea Monsters" is in three episodes on this. The Dutch dvd was released in 2004, so the episodes must have only recently been rolled into one.
It sucks that it hasn't been released, i thought it was awesome, and the most enjoyable of them all.
shareFor those of you who wanted to know and haven't found out yet: the Dutch DVD "WWD specials" includes the Sea Monsters trilogy as three separate episodes, and includes interviews with Nigel Marven and the producers as extra features. It's not dubbed, only subbed, so perfectly acceptable for English speakers as well.
shareFrom a brief look at various search engines it seems that Sea Monsters was never released independently. It was included in a boxed set called "Chased by Dinosaurs" where it was coupled with "Giant Claw" and "Land of Giants" (two other "Walking With Dinosaurs" specials) but I can only find "Chased with Dinosaurs" in Region 1 DVD format and only second-hand. I agree, it's a shame that it's never been released on DVD for the UK market. Maybe an email or two to "Impossible Pictures" (the production company) can bring that about?
