Why I hate extreme Mencia hate.

Now before you people start attacking me for being a Mencia defender, I will say that I am not a fan of Mencia's show. I think that Mencia's show is a merely average show that is at times funny and at times annoying. In other words, I can watch an episode without the temptation to gouge my eyes out.

The majority of Mencia's haters simply state that they dislike Mencia's form of comedy/show and move on, understanding that people have different opinions about his comedy/show. But there are some, including the ones on this board, that irritate me. These are the extreme haters; the haters that not only hate this show but actually think that everyone who enjoys it is an idiot. They will exaggerate the slightest bit of dirt they can get on Mencia to make it look like Mencia is not a man, but a sentient pile of filth. Why these people do that is beyond me; perhaps they desperately need a life and can't seem to find one. Such bits of dirt include:

"He steals jokes from other comedians."

I will acknowledge that he stole a few bits, but you people act like ALL of his material is stolen from other comedians. It obviously isn't.

"His real name is Ned Holness."

Seriously, why is this considered dirt on Carlos Mencia?

1. Mencia's real name is Ned Arnel Mencia. He adopted the name Ned Holness while in High School to show respect to his father. Afterwards he just went by Ned Mencia.
2. Mark Twain's real name was Samuel Clemens. Is this considered dirt on Mark Twain? No, it isn't. So why do you people bug Mencia based on the fact that he goes by a stage name?

Then there is this comment that keeps popping up:

"Anyone who enjoys this show is an idiot."

This comment proves that extreme Mencia haters have no respect for other people's opinions. These Mencia haters need to learn that different people have different tastes, and even though you may think that he is not funny, there are a great deal of people who like his show. Just live with that fact, and stop attacking people who enjoy the show just because they enjoy the show. It makes you all look like idiots.

And that is why I hate extreme Mencia haters. Good day to you all.

While some of his jokes arent stolen from other comedians, he does repeat the same stupid jokes over and over. All they are is just tired steryotypes and he seems to take pride in "fanning the flames of hatred" which is clearly wrong. The fact that his real name is Ned and that he is not actually a full mexican wouldnt normally be a bad thing for anyone else, but he constantly shows it off and thinks his "Mexican Nationality" makes him better than white people. And for your last little comment, i think people can think whatever the hell they want and have whatever oppinion they want. But if they actually do act like idiots, its ok to call them idiots. People should be judged on their actions and nothing else. Not their race (as Mencia bases every skit of his on judging people on the color of their skin), not their religious beliefs (as Mencia stereotypes Catholics and Jews), or what their personal oppinions are.

Mencia doesn't JUDGE based on the color of their skin religion etc, he just makes fun of it. He makes fun of himself to the extreme too. Honestly, I admire him for doing that. And besides, he's hillarious.

I don't know whether Mencia is mostly Mexican or not, but it hasn't been proven. Also, a name doesn't automatically determine your blood.

Ok so do the people that hate Mencia even read their posts before hitting submit? Mencia says that he was Born in HONDURUS whenever he talks about his childhood. Second for everyone who says that he steals jokes, show us some proof. As far as the skits on the show, their are writers that help with content. So its not all Mencia that comes up with the skits. And racial humor is done by almost EVERY comic out there. So yeah it might not be a "new, cutting edge" form of comedy, but if you hate Carlos for it, then you should hate every other comedian out there. I have liked him since I saw his HBO special, and I haven't heard him (to my recolection) ever say "I am mexican so I am better than you white people". If he thought that why would he have a dislike of illegals?

Are you joking? Proof has been posted on this board alone dozens and dozens of times. It doesn't take more than a minute on a search engine to find all the proof you could possibly need. The guys a hack, plain and simple.

As far as the racist comedy bit -- there's a huge difference between using racist jokes and relying on them. Ned falls into the latter.

I'm sick of all these fu ckin haters bulls hit...It's RETARDED!! Carlos is a great comedian, and I don't think Comedy Central would give him a show if he was unfunny and stole every joke...The point is, no one can give SOLID EVIDENCE that he stole. The same people that think he steals jokes are people who think 9/11 was a conspiracy, they're RETARDED...I have some respect for Joe Rogan, but I believe this fued isn't about stealing material, I believe it may be a personal issue, and Rogan is getting flatout beaten by Carlos everywhere...Carlos' name is Ned Mencia, and yes he did go by Ned Holness in high school, but he is Mexican and Honduran, and his brother Joseph said that his grandfather is half english and half german, which is probalby where Rogan got his "half german" source, but his grandfather being half english and half german would still leave Carlos' ancestry at a majority of Hispanic...so there....That should end it...

Carlos is very talented, Rogan even said that himself...but people that hate are just people that are hypocritical about other comedians....and besides, Carlos can make fun of himself, and he doesn't act like a badass like Rogan does. Rogan sells out to a small crowd and thinks he's the sh it, Carlos at least doesn't brag about selling out to thousands.

Hey well said MysticDynamite. I don't understand all the hate myself. So he's not Mexican and Carlos Mencia isn't his real name. Big deal. Get over it haters.

The FACT is that he doesn't really give a *beep* if people are offended bu his material, that's what I love about him and this is what makes him one of the most entertaining stand up comedians today. Seriously people name even 3 present day stand up comedians apart from Chappelle and Chris Rock who are better than Carlos Mencia - I bet you can't name EVEN 3!

So why the hate? Maybe people just hate him becasue he's foreign or whatever. He still makes me laugh, so I don't really give a *beep* where he's from. Nor do I care to much about which comedians he (apparantyly) stole a couple of jokes from. He makes alot of people laugh and for this I dont really care "who said it first". Time for the haters to grow up and get a life.

I'm sorry but i really, REALLY felt a need to respond to this. I wasn't going to until I saw your point that you made that said...

...Ok, that is the worst argument I've ever seen in my life and here's why. Mark Twain didn't change his name so that he could "ethnic" himself up a little and therefore get away with making a show that takes stupid, 40 year old rascist jokes and turn them into seven minute sketches. You see, nobody has a problem with him taking a stage name, people have a problem with him doing it in the name of starting a career based on screaming the word "beaner" every ten seconds, which would've been a little harder if the show was called "Mind of Ned"

I like how you say it's OK that he steals jokes because only some of his stuff was stolen like that somehow makes it better. I'm going to rewrite "Of Mice and Men" word for word tomorrow but I'm going to have a gunfight in the middle and then end it with Lenny dying in a hang gliding accident instead. I guess that makes it not plagarism as long as it isn't ALL stolen.

And as far as your "anyone who enjoys his show is an idiot" thing, I have to say I'm sorry but I call them like I see them. Every person I've ever spoken with who enjoyed "MOM" is in fact an idiot. Sorry, but they are. Well, either that or they're 12 years old and they think he is saying something "groundbreaking".

And another thing that I hate about him. He makes it seem like he is the first and only person doing racially-charged humor. Not so. In fact he isn't even close. Hell, he isn't even the first person since the dreaded "PC" movement of the 90's ended. Yet he himself acts like he is doing something completely original. He goes on and on about how "un-PC" he is and then tries to say people don't like him because he offends them. Wrong. People don't like him because he's simply not funny. Dave Chappelle does racial humor that has balls, and is something completly new. There's a big difference between a white family with the last name *beep* and a sketch about a middle eastern guy working in a convenience store followed by a sketch about how Asians can't drive well. But as long as the American public continues this downslide into mental retardation I guess he'll continue to have a show. Oh well. I don't have to watch it.

I mean the guy is dumb enough to rip off a joke basically word for word from one of the most famous comedians ever and he actually thinks nobody's going to notice just because it happened 20 years ago? Like he's hoping that everyone has a bad memory or something. I think the cardinal sin in comedy is a comedian stealing from another comedian. That's all they have is their jokes. And he doesn't even try to change it around or disguise it. Shameful.

I don’t normally post on these thing but meh..bored…

Anyway. This whole crazy hate for this comic makes me sick. I agree it is horrible that he steals jokes but he isn’t the first comic to do so. I will not try to defend him for doing this...there is no excuse.

But getting over that. My problem is people saying he is racist. One issue I’ve had with Chappelle was the butt of his jokes were always white people. No matter what he was going on about it came down to “white people are dumb and cant dance.” his jokes always seemed aimed to hurt, not mock. With Mencia he at least changes thing up now and then by mocking another race. Are most of the joke unique? No, not really but at least he isn’t trying to hurt anyone.

The show it’s self is okay. Not the best, reminds me of mad TV. His stand up is much better. Personally I think he is under a lot of pressure to make the show just like Chappelle. This was an unfair thing for comedy central to do and I’m not sure why it lasted this long.

I guess the point I want to make is it’s not fair to attack this man by saying he is a moron and racist. He isn’t either, his jokes are aimed to make you see how stupid racism can be, not unlike so many other who just didn’t become as popular with the “college crowd.” the image he has made for himself fits in with the people he wants to watch him. Young men ages 14-25, white and uneducated.

So just relax and tell me again why Dane Cook sucks and how great George Carlin. All it proves is that you “know” who is good because you read it or your parents told you.

No he isn’t great but he isn’t nearly half as bad or offensive as Larry the cable guy.

I dont give a *beep* what his name is he just isnt funny. All of his jokes are just stereotypes that you hear every day. They are so played out and just about anyone can make them up. I also hate his smug ass smile or laugh after every joke he tells. What I hate even more is when he covers his mouth and does that "YEAH, I TOTALLY WENT THERE! ARENT I OFFENSIVE?!?!" face. They are just age old stereotypes that have been over used and most people don't really care about them anymore. I also hate how he thinks his jokes are SO offensive that there is going to be a total outrage. Go to any high school and you can hear that same *beep* all damn day. I dont really care about his fans, the only thing that really bugs me is when they think that I dont like the show because it offends me. I couldn't care less if he acts like all white people are uptight, cant dance, and intolerant of other cultures. Ive heard stuff like that tons of times and I really just dont' give a *beep*. Dave Chapelle could do race stuff way better than Mencia because (to use my English class knowledge) he uses more indirect characterization than direct. While Mencia will just go out and say "Black people love fried chicken!". Chapelle will have a black man on a plane trying not to appear too stereotypical when choosing his food while a little stereotypical black man is dancing around because the choices are fried chicken or cat fish. Chapelle is funny because he is just poking fun, while Mencia is trying to be offensive and shock people because he is so "bad". Its all about his attitude and lack of creativity in his jokes.

He is not original and he thinks he is thats what annoys me. Comedy Central has the worst shows on Chappelle and old south park were great. now the channel is horrible I haven't watched it since Chappelle. This guy Ned whatver his name is adds to it he is just lame the worst comedians ever imo.

Not only is Carlos Mencia racist and ignorant, he is an uneducated fool. He pummels mexicans like mad on his show, then excuses it by calling himself a "beaner" HE ISN'T MEXICAN! He is Honduran. It's like calling Italians, Russian. He also blabs on how White People never suffered or faced discrimination. Is he talking about White people in general? As I recall Irish immigrants to the United States were treated no better than the freed African American Slaves at the time. They even shared the same "N" word only with "White" preceding it. I can go on and on all day with most Eastern European countries. He supports hatred towards races instead of trying to unite them. If he doesn't directly then he is very dumb. You say "haters" don't respect Mencia's opinion? Hitler had an opinion, should we have respected it?

Speaking of Chappelle, he left his show because they wanted him to sell out like Mencia.

There is a big difference between Samuel Clemens and his pen name(Mark Twain) and Ned Holness' stage name(Carlos Mencia). Clemens used a pen name to make himself more marketable, Holness changed his name to do beaner jokes
