Anyone else disappointed?

It doesn't bother me that it isn't a direct continuation of the first movie.
It doesn't bother me that it really doesn't answer many questions.
I even thought that the story was an interesting one, but one thing DID bother me

There is a distinct difference between a novel and a movie.
Movies show it. Novels explain it.
Scenes where a character coughs and then the voice-over immediately follows saying "I coughed"
are the reason why this film was hard for me to digest.

I waited so long to see this film
Big Disappointment
Misleading IMDB rating also

"WHO'S ON TOP & WHO'S ON BOTTOM NOW, huh?! WHO'S ON TOP & WHO'S ON BOTTOM NOW!"

I understand how a lot of people aren't going to like this film. But I had extremely high expectations and I was still blown away. I think nothing could surpass something like SC, but even if I gave SC a 10/10, I would also give NDT a 10/10. I just think it's apples and oranges. Two amazing masterpieces, but at the same time, two completely different films.

Full ACK! And I also liked the narration. Okay, it is something like a book and it is something new or at least unexpected/uncommon for a movie, but so what? Be open minded! NDT feels like a novel with moving pictures, and an extremely bizarre and at the same time extremely beautiful one.The narration gives the movie a very eerie, almost hypnotic atmosphere, something to dream along, to get lost in. IMHO the movie is NOT too long, although 2 hours and 40 minutes might feel too long for some.If you take your time and watch it open minded, it is absolutely worth it. However, it still feels strange, as it feels like between watching a movie and reading a book. Maybe reading a movie and watching a book at the same time? Anyway, it is a new viewing experience and quite peerless. It is only disappointing if you want it to be Suicide Club 2...

reply

People mislead themselves thinking that this is a shock horror, mainly because of the reputation Suicide Club has. The thing is it's a different kind of "horror", since it's a lot more realistic and everyone can relate to it. I found the family service thing twisted as hell, it's generally creepy seeing people living as an act.

Because sponges never have bad days.

I am not disappointed. I feel its message was deeper and explained so much in the first movie and all understanding of the first became more solid as new information tied up loose ends. Plus, the concept of taking on many roles was something that I felt to be a truth in all people, especially me in my past.

So yeah. Not disappointed at all.

Strange Circus is still his masterpiece...

I liked the constant narration...

I don't know why but I felt like it really added something special to the movie.

Lalalala

reply

I'm absolutely with the OP, the narration is redundant and prolix.
For the people that found it profound please explain me where are the messages, 2:40 of text that tells everything and nothing. There are movies out there that without any words (like Kim Ki-duk's) strike directly to your heart and mind. Sion Sono's Noriko's Table Dinnes is only a pretentious work filled with words to hide a shallow content.

People like you and the OP are what's wrong with the world today. Also - the word 'pretentious' is used by idiots who 'just don't get it'.

reply

no, this film sucked, period.
