sion sono kicked his fans in the balls.

Norikos dinner table is utter *beep* that has almost NOTHING to do with Suicide Club, easily one of the greatest and most powerful foriegn horror films ever made. Suicide Club was heartpounding at times while NDT is an overlong and boring as hell a&e family drama!

i think he only kicked you in the balls and other people like you who couldn't enjoy this film simply because they didn't understand it or try to care to. did you ever wonder WHY this film is rated higher then suicide club? to say this has nothing to do with suicide club just tells me you didnt understand it. and just because YOU don't understand it doesn't mean it sucks

Are you kidding? I (somehow) got the will to get through all of NDT. Im sorry, but when a film tries to establish itself to a sequel/prequel to something as suspenseful and memorable as SC, yet has an overly sluggish timepace with parts that dont make any sense or just plain dumb (let me repeat, I watched NDT fully) such as IDK the random guards getting killed and than not at the meeting, the girl being actually born in a locker, the utter randomness of the family renting service etc...you really dont get why I wouldnt be dissapointed in Sono? Norikos Dinner Table is a dreadfully boring "family drama" that had charecters I couldnt even try to be careful for. Suicide Club at least had strong and memorable charecters like Mitsuko, the strong willed girl trying to uncover the truth behind the local suicides/her boyfriends death. Or the lead detective and his despair for trying to get a grip on the insanity around him. The dad in NDT was literally the only person in the film I had a drop of interest in. If NDT seperated itself from any connection to SC (aka besides the quick train scene, having nothing to do with it) I might feel slightly diffrent, but than again I probably wouldnt have seen NDT in the 1st place. You say I didnt understand it, well let me think, wtf does a family renting service have to do with the group behind the chaos in the 1st film!? Cause from my standpoint "Nothing." If a film has uninteresting charecters and you're pretty much watching just to get it over with, the director did the opposite of what he was suppose to with his work...

edit: btw NDT has 794 ratings while SC has 6,314, that obviously means more people watched it and with that many people theres bound to be a few low ratings....

Personally I think this film is Sono's Masterpiece. And one day it will hopefully be rediscovered by a wider audience and given its proper acclaim. I kind of think its the fact that its looked at as a sequel to Suicide Club that works against how powerful and great this film is on its own.

I liked Suicide Club but by act 3 it seemed to turn into a parody of itself with the film's execution of showing the girl finding the pop band. That part just didn't work for me, at least not the way it was written and shot. I did like the ending on the train platform though. That actually was really effective.
