Anyone else sorely dissapointed?

Ok, so I was pumped for a creepy psycological horror thriller, as I haven't seen one in ages, so I sent this up to the top of my Netflix queue, and put it in as soon as I got it.

Wow, this is a boring, funny movie. The only remotely scary things were the ones that jumped out at you accompanied by the strings section all kicking their instruments simultaniously, and to me that doesn't count as scary, that's just a cheap startle to get a reaction from the audience when someone knows they can't do it with suspense.

The film was also riddled with cliches, some so glaring and obvious that they were hilarious. Flickery hallways, girls with hair over their faces, cryptic, cackling old women, and lest we forget, the good old standby of "little girl = creepy!".

Did anyone else feel that the film was weak?

Agreed, this film was utterly dissapointing and dull, all the potential it had was wasted.

Someone said it in another post - "You didn't miss anything. It was just incoherent trash demonstrating a complete lack of restraint among Korean filmmakers."

I like Asian and South Korean flicks in general a great deal but this one...

"Time doesn't die. People die."

We should do a poll with this ;)

Disappointing
Yes: 3
No: 2

I found the movie horrible really. The acting, music and the photography were ok. But around minute 50 got bored and switched it off. Too many clichés in one movie (as said before) and the sound FX and cinematography are horrible (on my opinion of course)

Rating: 3/10

gonzogonzalez45 - you can't even GIVE a rating to a film you only watched 50 minutes of. There was almost another forty-five minutes of the film that you missed, and basing a rating of an entire film off the fact that you were too bored by it to finish it gives you no merit whatsoever.

Maybe I should have said b as in 'boy' rather than b as in 'bagina'...

i was also disappointed with this movie. I'm a huge fan of Asian cinema but I'm starting to push myself away from the "ghost story" aspect of it because they are all starting to blend in together. nothing scary about this one at all for me. Nothing haunting either, and that's sad considering it is a ghost story. I kind of blame Hollywood for adapting too many decent Asian horror films.

Brian, there's a message in my AlphaBits. It says "OOOOOO".
Peter, those are Cheerios.

After watching 50 minutes of this - there was 45 more to go?

Geez...seemed like about another two hours to me. It just dragged on and on and on...and when I thought it would end (a couple times)...it would start all over again.

I seriously didn't like this film. Now granted I missed the first 10 minutes of it - so maybe I missed something integral...but enough with the "what's happening now vs what happened in the past vs what's an illusion vs what's just tossed in there because they were bored" thing already.

I like films that make you think - but I think I'm gonna pass if it comes on again.

So, yes, to answer the question - I was indeed sorely disappointed. And I like Korean films, too.

I too am dissappointed with the film. The start of the film did seem promising but after that it went down-hill. The film is boring and when watching the making of, the director stated that "the red shoes symbolises the extremities of a women's desire of her womanhood" When I didn't recieve 'womenhood' vibe from this film.

Couldn't agree more! It was a confused over the top mess which was as dull as a sink of dirty old dish water.

The endings...they just kept coming...were interminable. The director just never knew when to stop. The producers should have used restraints on him.

Not me. I knew just what I was getting into when I read the description of the movie. I've seen enough movies like it to have a good idea what to expect. I don't know how a person could sit down to watch a movie about cursed shoes and expect much in the way of quality or originality.

Anyway, it wasn't the worst movie in the world and did have its creepy moments, but for the most part, for me it alternated between dull and unintentionally funny.
