Batman Movies Need To Learn From Spider-Man (To End The Joker Obsession)

Every Batman has his own version of Joker, and one Joker has existed without Batman at all. Meanwhile, Spider-Man tends to avoid repeating villains.

Agreed.

Except No Way Home that repeats multiple villains at once.

They kinda had a really good plot reason to do so, though (as I understand it - I haven't seen it). It's the same as Into the Spider-verse, which gives us some repeat characters, but the context of the film (the multiverse, imagine that!) makes it work without feeling like a re-tread.

You better hope the website screenrant.com never shuts down. Otherwise you'd have nothing to post

What I tend to post and where I get it is none of your damn business or concern! If you don't like it, then go somewhere else. This is the second time today, that you've brought that up!

Am I the first person you ever posted too where you didn't post a screenrant link?

As long as they keep giving me portraits of the Joker ala the ones by Nicholson, Ledger, and Phoenix, I say go for it.

Batman and Spider-man have (my opinion) the best rogues galleries of any heroes. Even the spider-films haven't explored all the potential greats (Kraven!)

I think the reason Joker comes up again and again is because he is the definitive arch-villain, and Batman's nemesis. Spider-man sorta has Green Goblin and sorta Venom and sorta other guys. So it's less tempting to keep hitting the same one.

First point: each spider-franchise starts with Spider-man against a scientist turned green meanie (Goblin, Lizard, Vulture). So...

Second point: nine Spidey films, nine Bat-movies (not counting Adam West, but including Phantasm).

The Burton/Schumacher Bat-films don't repeat villains. Batman Begins also starts us fresh with three villains, no repeats. The other movies give us at least one repeated villain per movie. Phantasm has Joker, TDKR has Bane, etc.

Joker shows up in three movies, plus a cameo in The Batman.

I haven't logged Joker's own film or the Suicide Squad/Justice League stuff.

Catwoman is also in for three.

Spiderman repeats out the gate. Spiderman 2 and 3 (Raimi's) have Harry as a villain. Green Goblin shows up again in the Amazing series, and while Vulture and Mysterio are original, the MCU caps off with the Villains' Reprise.

All told, they each have five movies with original villains (to the film series as a whole) and four without. Nobody shows up for four in the Spidey films, but Ock and Goblin have each turned out for three.

So they're pretty close.
