I don't understand why people like this movie so much (spoilers)

All of the characters were boring to me. I only thought the joker was interesting. And Batman with the husky voice like no one would notice. And he practically smashed Rachel onto a car when he tried to "rescue her" and she ended up being fine?! And we don't even really get to see her death. We had to just assume she died in that explosion.

There are a couple of reasons; it has well choreographed and filmed action sequences; the performers are both great and convincing (despite Bale's annoying voice he delivers a convincing performance; the editing is almost perfect, the effects and camera work are among the best (the special effects hold up very well even after 12 years). Ledgers performance was truly special (I still prefer Nicholson's Joker but Ledger does deliver a remarkable performance) and then inflated by his untimely death.

But I think the number one thing that this movie has was the pacing; it is almost a perfectly paced film; it never lingers more than it needs to; the scenes and sequencing are edited tightly so that no time is wasted and yet the stakes are constantly rising. Anything just a little faster would have felt rushed and jarring (like JJ Abrams films TFA or STar Trek) anything slower would have dragged.

I tried very hard to find fault in this movie because as I said I subjectively like Tim Burton's batman better; but The Dark Knight is basically a perfect action film.
