Hey Regs!

IMDb is the world’s most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content. As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb, we have decided to disable IMDb’s message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb’s message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide. The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic.

Increasingly, IMDb customers have migrated to IMDb’s social media accounts as the primary place they choose to post comments and communicate with IMDb’s editors and one another. IMDb’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/imdb) and official Twitter account (https://twitter.com/imdb) have an audience of more than 10 million engaged fans. IMDb also maintains official accounts on Snapchat (https://www.snapchat.com/add/imdblive), Pinterest (https://www.pinterest.com/imdbofficial/), YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/imdb), and Tumblr (http://imdb.tumblr.com/).

Because IMDb’s message boards continue to be utilized by a small but passionate community of IMDb users, we announced our decision to disable our message boards on February 3, 2017 but will leave them open for two additional weeks so that users will have ample time to archive any message board content they’d like to keep for personal use. During this two-week transition period, which concludes on February 19, 2017, IMDb message board users can exchange contact information with any other board users they would like to remain in communication with (since once we shut down the IMDb message boards, users will no longer be able to send personal messages to one another). We regret any disappointment or frustration IMDb message board users may experience as a result of this decision.

IMDb is passionately committed to providing innovative ways for our hundreds of millions of users to engage and communicate with one another. We will continue to enhance our current offerings and launch new features in 2017 and beyond that will help our customers communicate and express themselves in meaningful ways while leveraging emerging technologies and opportunities.

So we only have a few weeks left together. It's been a hell of a ride, guys. I don't know what else to say.

*Spoilers ahead*

It just occurred to me that two of the best death scenes in cinematic history were from non-humans. Roy Batty in Blade Runner and K2SO in Rogue One. This is one of countless observations that nobody will be able to ignore since I can't even post them on IMDb soon.

And we thought 2016 was tough.

This board was already dead, now it's just coming off life support, though I can't imagine this won't hurt IMDb's traffic. Proper websites are already dying due to the big 3 sites, people now have one less reason to come here.

Isn't IMDb owned by Amazon? I don't think they care about the ad revenue generated by this site. The message says something about a 'small but passionate community' using the message boards and directs you to social media sites. They figure to recoup their losses there, I imagine.

My wife says it's only reminding me I'm a dinosaur for not having a social media presence. But hey, the shadows are my style.

I deleted all of my social media accounts as a new years resolution. I think it's the best thing a person can do for themselves. It's as if all of the attention seeking community just disappeared from this world.

They also called us customers, not users.

Goodbye people that prolly don't remember me. Just thought I'd stop by for old times sake and pay my dues.

This board will always be one of the best.

They call us users in every paragraph except the one telling where to migrate to next. Coincidence?

Bummer. I'm really gonna miss these boards. I came here as a naive little boy, but I ended up learning a lot about myself. Without this place I would have never found out that I was a f@ggot, and that I should go watch Transformers. I never would have known when it was Johnny Depp's birthday, or whether people wanted him to be happy or not. Where else could I find out if some guy thinks Keri Russel looks like Dina Meyer from Starship Troopers, and also another guy thinks she looks like Jennifer Morrison, and yet a third guy thinks she looks like Teresa Russell, and wonders if they're related? I guess this is just my way of saying that this place has always been a cesspool of repulsiveness and it deserves to be erased from human record along with everyone who ever contributed to it.

If, when this body is buried, the memories people have of me are buried along with it, that will be the end of me.

So long, suckas!

This is like the end of Lost. You know, the best show of all time. Better than The Wire.

Aw sh-t. I'm gonna go cry in a corner. Thanks, Trump.

I posted here (mostly under a different name) quite frequently back from about 2008 until 2011 or so. Those were some good times and this board was fvckingg crazy. Kinda lost its appeal after TDKR board showed up and this place went back to normal.

Look at that turtle go bro! 
