This sounds like its english sometimes and sometimes not. It reminds me of a Scottish movie I saw where the people were speaking english but just in a strange way. Or I guess this could be some sort of fused dialect. Anyone know?

Afrikaans is a language entirely unto itself, derived most directly from Dutch, specifically the Dutch settlers who originally colonized southern Africa. It's as much a "combination" as English is a "combination" of French and German. By the way, if "African" is a language than I speak "American" and my friend speaks "Asian."

I think it may be a black coloured t-shirt, that says "Praat Afrikaans, of hou jou bek!" - I've seen shirts like this at quite a number of flea-markets around Pretoria (where I live).
Don't think I've ever seen one that refers to race.

i saw it on a shirt from a website i went to. I wanted a shirt that had something to do with south africa because my great-great grandfather was from south africa, but he was afrikaan, so i typed in afrikaan. and that's what came up. Thanks for the translation.

I don't speak Afrikaans (I speak some Dutch, though), but I can tell you that the phrase translates roughly as "Speak Afrikaans or shut the *beep* up".
