Quite not what I expected

The movie was okay. I liked the main characters but it's a bit silly movie. What I thought that was really interesting is the treatment of the government. Don't think I've seen much criticism of the government at all in other Korean films that I have ever seen. So it was a bit refreshing and perplexing at the same time.

So my main question is if Koreans kind of hate their government but only criticize it privately? Or is it like the US where we talk bad about our leaders all the time.
