In case my brother Doug Block did not answer this question for you previously, neither is exactly true. Kitty had been sending birthday and holiday cards to my father for a long time. My father's birthday was shortly after my mother died, so when he got the birthday card from Kitty, he contacted her, and it was at that point that they began to re-establish their relationship. He first saw her again that July when he took a pre-planned vacation down to Florida.
