Where In Wales Is It Set?
anybody know? ive heard them mention a few welsh place such as cragan bay, newport, tradegar, haverfordwest etc but never where its actually set (unless i missed it?)

An article I found explained this:
THE setting is Wales, most of the cast are Welsh, but not one scene of Robson Green's new drama series was filmed in the country where the story takes place.
Rocket Man, a six-part family drama commissioned by BBC Wales, was shot earlier this year entirely in the North East of England, even though the plot revolves around a widowed engineer and father, played by Green, living in South Wales where he longs to send his wife's ashes into space.
Well thats a bit of a kick in the teeth, especially as i live in Wales.

shareOk, then, if you're talking about Tredegar and Newport your looking at somewhere in Monmouthshire but Cragan Bay? Did you mean Cardigan Bay, because that would be quite a hike from Monmouthshire.
shareye im not sure really because ive never heard of cragan bay either, but im suret thats what they said on the program might just be fictional place
shareI live in nearby Ashington. My hairdresser lives in East Sleekburn which is further down the coast from Druridge Bay and she said they filmed some scenes in her street.
shareI used to live in Cwmbran in South Wales (12 miles from Newport), and I always thought that Rocket man was filmed in the Gower Coast.
For anyone who has ever been to both Northumberland and the Gower coast, they do look very similar don`t they.
A very enjoyable series. Charles Dale does a very convincing Welsh accent. He`s a suberb actor and very underated in my opinion.
i can throw a little light most of the houses were filmed in various old pit vilages around newcastle and northumberland the factory they built the rocket was a old unit near swanhunters and at one scene in the background you can notice the metro train running past !
