To all those right wingers (too afraid to sign up) justifying this as frat boy antics or necessary to protect ourselves, I got one word.

Nuremberg.

Meaning:

1.- "Following orders" doesn't excuse anyone.
2.- Were any goverment treating american civilians or soldiers or mercenaries like this, they would be condemned worldwide, regardless of their just or unjust reasons.

That's right.

Reverse the victims and tell me with a straight face that it's OK to treat americans suspect of terrorism/criminal acts/whatever like this by another goverment.

And for the idiots saying this is necessary to get intel, how come none of this was used against nazi prosioners in WWII? And they cooperated, without coersion.

Because the people back then knew how to do their FOCKING jobs (all interrogators talked perfect german, knew german culture, extensively investigated the interviewed prisioners beforehand, etc).

This resulted from idiot Bushies disregarding past experience and trying to reinvent the wheel going to the models used by KGB and other terrorist organizations, plus reverse-engineering the SERE training undergone by the SEALS.

Our cops in Mexico use it all the time to get confessions, and they do, anyone hear the joke about MOSSAD, CIA, KBG, and mexican Judiciales all competing to get a rabbit faster in the woods? Judiciales won, they got a bear beaten to sh*t screaming he was a rabbit, and asking of course where could he sign his confession.

Just one question, O enlightened, self-righteous one:

How many heads have been sawed off by American interrogators?(answer NONE) It seems to me that ALL who have been taken captive have lived to piss and moan about their so-called "torture".
And as for Mexican cops, don't even go there: because the ANYTHING to do with the Mexican government is corrupt, defunct and worthless; or Mexico itself for that matter.

It's never been proven by a credible source that torture has ever been perpetrated anyway.

Oh, except by a handful of potential suicide bombers. And we all KNOW that they wouldn't lie or stretch the truth, don't we?

GraGoste: I can see the the OP's point of view: Imagine the HORROR of those prisoners---THREE Square Meals per day; sleeping on cots; showers, medical & dental care & prayer five times a day....THE INDIGNITY of it all...why they'll probably get high cholesterol or high blood pressure or diabetes or even OBESITY---THEIR lives will be RUINED forever....how will they EVER be able to go back to living in a cave??

Agreed, NM, that the trauma of being slammed into the 21 century when you're used to partyin' like it's 1299 can be a bit much for the system to take.

GraGoste, the cadence sounds better when you say 'party like it's 1499'-maybe because 14 & 19 have two syllables---or it could be THAT Weird Al Yankovic song....

True, very true.

However, anytime past 1299 may be giving the average Jihad-head too much credit.

The only thing these folks want to do with the 20th century is the more powerful explosive that come with the modern era.

Agree with the OP. In different degrees they all are culprits. Actually every US citizen who knew what was happening in Guantanamo but didn't dare to expose it, is also guilty to some extent.
Of course, as in the Nazi Germany, a low-rank soldier assigned to a concentration camp was responsible for what happened over there but not in the same degree as the monsters who planned everything (Hitler, Goebbels, Himmler, Goering). Those are the biggest devils. In this case Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Wolfowitz, and so on.
However as I said before, they all are war criminals, sadly none of them will be punished. Never.
