passing the torch?

I know alot of people may disagree with me but I thought this was a really good movie and while it may not appeal to alot of Japanese monster movie fans from my generation (I'm 38) I think it is about time that this genre of movies make the move from old school smash 'em up monster flicks to something that will hit the mark with the future fans of "Kaiju Eiga" Sure, its a Gamera thats cute and cuddly, but hasn't Gamera always been a little campy? With Godzilla on vacation and nothing very special coming from Hollywood for like, well, ever I think this movie will be the one to bridge the gap between our old sixties and seventies creature features to the new CGI world of monster movies

Gamera has always been the friend to all children... I think this movie cheerfully plays up to that reputation, making a giant monster movie that safely appeals to the kiddie set without talking down to them; and best of all, unlike most American so-called kids' movies, they don't throw in a bunch of unnecessary sex appeal. I loved it.

Ooo, baby, your domestic gross is SO BIG. That's how I know how GOOD you are!

I've been a fan of Gamera since I was kid (in the mid 1970's) and this is the worst film in the entire series. I would hold Gamera vs Zigra over this mess. I just bought the DVD and can't explain why they went back to the friend of all children story. This movie may appeal to young kids, but I found this hard to watch.

2012 WILL HAPPEN!!! (Right after 2011 happens)

This was NOT a bad movie. Screw the haters. Not real fans of giant monster movies obviously, just some trolls.

Not in the Heisei movies. He was dead serious there, a lot like the Heisei and Millennium-era Godzilla. Not at all "cute and cuddly." Unlike the Showa series, the Heisei Gamera didn't feature pre-teens at all. The characters were all young adults and older.

This movie was okay, but I did prefer the Heisei series.
