How come on the poster it still says "Ellen Page"?

Doesn't that get corrected with our magic sex-changing time-machine-enabled revisionism?

reply

Can't figure that one you for yourself?

reply

No.
Anywhere you look Ellen Page is not credited for her films, which SHE did, anymore. It's Elliot Page, who hasn't starred in any film yet. But the magic sex-changing time-machine-enabled revisionism fixed that, thank God!

How come it doesn't do its magic on posters too?

reply

Wait 20 years and posters will probably be able to do that.

It is reasonable to assume that all the backdating of everything is an imperfect process, so there should be some note or entry for her previous identity remaining in sites like these. That makes some kind of sense.

But, now, I think the stigma and danger attached to gender identity issues is also reasonable to want to avoid for those folk.

reply

Bah, it looks to me like the fashion of the day, so changing facts for wishful thinking is the "correct" thing to do today.

I don't think it's remotely what is gonna be kept in history, they'll look at this BS as something so extreme that is counterproductive on the issue itself. Her wanting to change her gender, name, or whatever else, does not and will not change what she was till yersterday.
As always, with innovative social issues, it's best to be balanced and intelligent to have it accepted: Rosa Parks didn't start fighting or insulting or marching or anything extreme nor stupid. She didn't ask for the whole bus for herself.
She just did what was fair and made sense.

Just as a side note, this whole bullshit is against the very concept of cinema.
Which is, something that happened a precise moment in time and history impressing its image with light on the rolling film inside a camera. This is almost as bad as Spielberg ET and SW special editions.
The credits are what they are, not gonna change later because we think they are outdated.

To me this is a relatively unimportant thing that does not need to be so finely parsed, but not only that spending so much time and assumptions into a logical exercise with no real payoff is counterproductive and historically destined to be inaccurate or wrong.

BUT, I would say the one universal is for an interested party to be able to track down identification or a celebrity/actor/whatever in a "work" like in a database needs a unique key identifier that would include any credits to that individual no matter what their name is. That is at least in terms of marketplace logic or government identifier no one should be able to escape their real identity, which is a combination of all of those credits/events.

Just need to build a statue, so then they can tear it down for a more equitable statute

Maybe there looking for a nice iron-zinc type one

reply

Can you not tug one out to him while it still says Ellen on this page or something?

Do you need to speak to the manager?

reply

Winston is busy.

The poster is clearly transphobic. How dare it deadname her. DNA tests are likewise transphobic.

reply

The fact that zie was outrageously and offensively assigned "female" when zie was born by some arrogant male doctor abiding by the white, European, gender-normative biology of The Patriarchy simply because zie had a vagina and XX chromosomes is a crime!

reply

I confess!
But I just asked how come it still says that unspeakablename, I didn't do it.
If anything, the poster is a transphobic deadnamer, not me.

reply

The uncertainty principle cannot help you now. All the quantum fluctuations in the universe cannot change the words on that poster.

reply

Exactly!

Here's a "retro" poster that lists someone called "Elliot Page":
