Natalie Dormer vs. Natalie Portman as Anne Boleyn?

Who rocked the part, the raven-haired, blue-eyed temptress from The Tudors or the doe-eyed brunette from TOBG?

I argue that Dormer was the better Anne Boleyn. For me, she really became Anne, and captured her extremely strong, intelligent, yet manipulative personality, as well as her notorious sexual appeal. Natalie Portman seemed a bit flat to me; she seemed to be rather self-conscious about her accent as well.

I think Natalie Dormer did better. She embodied Anne perfectly. Though, Natalie Portman is okay but was just a bit...blah sometimes. But you're right. The Natalie from The Tudors was great. And isn't that a coincedence that both of these actresses that played Anne Boleyn from the aforementioned 'The Tudors' and TOBG are named 'Natalie'? Interesting.

I'm not too fond of either girl playing this particular role, acting wise. In general, I prefer Portman as an actress. I also prefer her take on Boleyn simply because I found Dormer to be abysmally repellant after watching her "seduce" the king for like 15 episodes (I was so glad when she finally got killed off). That series really took too long to get to the point, while TOBG does the opposite, and neither of them ends up particularly good.

Please, Natalie Portman can't act her way out of a paper bag . She has the depth of a cardboard cutout standing in her place with a tape running the lines for her.

agree..

I think both did the best with what they were given, but I personally prefer Dormer's performance to Portman's. Then again, I think Natalie Dormer is one of the most talented young actresses working today. She's has an exceptional amount of potential, and I think if the writing had been better, she could have portrayed Anne perfectly. She deserved to win the Emmy for her role, and it's a complete travesty that she wasn't at least nominated.

Natalie D had more to work with and gave the character so much personality. She could probably be argued to be the actress who looked the least like Anne but she did a fantastic job in portraying her personality. Natalie Portman looks the most like the real Anne Boleyn probably the most like her than any other actress, but the Anne she was playing was a characture not a real person. She was just supposed to be the devil to Mary's angel.

Dormer, no contest. I think she was a fantastic Anne. I thought Portman's Anne was pretty bad to be honest. Not only is her character badly written but I just think Natalie's acting was plain bad. I will say Dormer had 2 seasons to flesh out her Anne while Portman only had about a 2hour movie. Still, Dormer wins for me.

Natalie is a great actress that has been given badly written characters and baldy directed in many ocassions. This was not an exception with TOBG. Maybe I am not being objective, I hated this movie with a passion, but even Natalie Portman couldn't make it better. The movie is awful, and Natalie Portman's Anne seemed like she came out of a cereal box.

Team Dormer, all the way!!!

I think Natalie Dormer was amazing in the tudors she brought the character of Anne to life. I watched the other boylen girl after i watched the Tudors and hated it so much, i love Natalie Portman but her portrail of Anne in this movie was nothing compared to Dormer in the Tudors.. Im not sure if its just me who thought there was no love bettween Portman's and Bana's characters as well passion as shown between Dormer and JRM. In my opinion Dormer should of won either an emmy of a golden Globe for her role in The Tudors.

Definitely Natalie Dormer. She became Anne for me in the second season.

Natalie Portman had some decent scenes, and is a capable actress. Maybe if her part was more developed in the movie I would feel differently.
