2011

Just now picked up this game in July 2011...along with a few other games at the same time, among them was "Duke Nukem Forever" another game initially handled by 3d Realms.
Funny, after waiting so long to play DNF and only just a while ago becoming interested in checking out Prey after seeing a great e3 video for Prey 2 (which seems completely unrelated to this game?) I have to say - I'm both disappointed in one way and pleasantly surprised in another.
This game (IMO) is superior to DNF.
It's got a decent storyline, innovative gameplay, and it's a sci-fi FPS that doesn't actually underwhelm me like a few other more recent efforts have (crysis 2, DNF, Fear)...Prey has everything I look for in a good title of this sort...the atmosphere is great, it's a unique experience, and it just keeps me wanting to play...all I can keep thinking is "if only other games were always this good".
When I play Prey, thoughts of previous titles I've enjoyed like the first Unreal, Half life, Resistance come to mind.

I now have very high hopes for the great looking Prey 2.

"This game (IMO) is superior to DNF."

You've got that right.

if only other games were always this good

Well said. But I would also add that there needs to be more games where the main character is American Indian (and not white), a main character with real problems, a personality (and not a Mary Sue), having these types of mystical powers (and not Greek, Roman, European, Japanese or Chinese abilities), and he's alone (you don't always need a group of characters that pretty much do nothing but insult each other).

Well the game was cancelled in late October of 2014 and I say good riddance because Prey 2 looked like just another generic FPS with an overly done space marine/cop as the main character who's not only a white guy but looks like someone from Call of Duty. Everything that made the first game great and different seemed to have been completely thrown away.
