one question I wish she wold have asked

The Bible says "On the third day He rose again'. He ws crucified on Friday afternoon. Sunday is only 2 days, isn't it? Am I being too literal? I was hoping she would ask this.

BTW, right before I watched this, I was watching Law andOrder SVu, and a guy playing a rapist looked just like Jefferson Moore. Very weird!!

nice socks, man.....

Another question I wish she would have asked. I know that they spoke about suffering and how God allows it. I do know this and I understand it. But what I don't understand is when a child suffers. I know we are not supposed to understand all things. But this is one I have a difficult time with. Why does a child have to suffer? Children are born with serious medical problems. Some get cancer at a very young age and they suffer and then die. Why? I cannot comprehend this and I'm not questioning Him and I know one day we will know. There's a bigger picture there but still... it breaks my heart when I know a child has to suffer.

You have plenty of company when you question why children have to suffer. We all accept an assigned set of circumstances and consequences when our spirit accepts incarnation as an individual. Much is known about the challenges that individual will have in their experiences here on earth. The purpose of our earthly experience(s) is to gain in knowledge and understanding in our quest for spiritual evolvement.

The suffering of which you mention is part of that challenge which has been accepted by that particular spirit. You should know that we are not given challenges which are greater than our ability to handle them.

Maycat,

Your question reminded me of a song by Natalie Grant, a Christian singer. She also pondered this and wrote this song:

Two months is too little.
They let him go.
They had no sudden healing.
To think that providence would
Take a child from his mother while she prays
Is appalling.

Who told us we'd be rescued?
What has changed and why should we be saved from nightmares?
We're asking why this happens
To us who have died to live?
It's unfair.

Chorus:
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we'd be held.

This hand is bitterness.
We want to taste it, let the hatred NUMB our sorrow.
The wise hands opens slowly to lilies of the valley and tomorrow.

(Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we'd be held.

Bridge:
If hope is born of suffering.
If this is only the beginning.
Can we not wait for one hour watching for our Savior?

(Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we'd be held.

In this world you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. For years I was smart.I recommend pleasant.

If one accepts the premise that this is a fallen world--ie unperfected--that it follows that there will be imperfection. Besides, the Darwinians rejoice in suffering. Or do they?

The Bible says "On the third day He rose again"

Well, if you think about it like this: Friday was the first day he was crucified, Sat. the 2nd, and Sun. the 3rd...it will make sense.

If you have unanswered questions then do something about.

Pick up your Bible and find the answers for yourself.

Peace.

when i have a question i do do something about it
but the bible doesnt have all the answers to them
if it did then i would already know when nights in rodanthe will be released on dvd and blu ray
if it has the answers to every question then it should have this
but it doesnt
you cant shoot this down
becuase it just proves my point that not literally every answer to every literal question in the bible

Actually, I would've asked Him if there was any other intelligent, extra-terrestrial life in the universe other than us (and Him of course! The angels, etc.), but I guess I'm superficial like that. ; ) LOL.

Well, with the Jews it was customary to count any part of a day as one whole - so part of Friday, Saturday, part of Sunday - you have your 3 days. One might say it is nothing but trying to explain a contradiction or falsehood away, but it isn't so. You can see the very same concept when counting the years of kings hundreds of years before Christ. Actually, the whole trouble with contradicting the reigns of kings in the books 'Kings' and 'Chronicles' stems from this very concept, because in Judah and in Israel they used different methods, hence the difference not only between them but with Babylonian or Assirian chronology as well.

Under the way the Jews conceptualized time any part of a day was considered a whole day... so Friday evening, Saturday all day, and Sunday morning can be considered 3 days
