I Can't Believe It

What a strange movie... down here I hear people talk about wow how great this is...
At the movie store that I work for I only hear people say what a lousy movie it is...

And frankly, I have to agree

At one point Hinduism is ridiculed about how silly they are for believing the universe is eternal... Just because it didn't match our sience records?
Hello...??? EVOLUTION-THEORY???
I'd think that Hinduism is closer to the truth, because the universe is so old that it could be seen, as a human being, to be eternal...
Evolution is all around us...

I'm not saying that christians are liars... but don't ridicule any other belief with 'evidence' that's also applicable to yourself...

I dislike this movie, and I will be warning everyone, because most expect a nice romantic movie, but will be shamefully dissapointed, like so many already have been...

I find the idea behind Hinduism to be cruel beyond description (ditto Buddhism). You have to atone for your bad karma in your next life -- but you get your memory wiped at (re)birth so that you don't remember what you did in your previous life. Can you said "eternal treadmill"?

Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except by Me" -- that message has been "disappointing" people for almost twenty centuries now.

"most expect a nice romantic movie"

???

So... Nikki is supposed to fall in love with Yeshua, instead of simply accepting him?

Intimacy?

Perhaps its not the way it is being said, and more the way it is being taken?

There are many different ways to take it. It is not sexual, although many minds, especially those that don't understand the relationship between Christ and his followers, tend to go there. The more accurate definitions I found on dictionary.com to help you better understand.

1. A close, familiar, and usually affectionate or loving personal relationship with another person or group.

2. A close association with or detailed knowledge or deep understanding of a place, subject, period of history, etc.: an intimacy with Japan.

3. An act or expression serving as a token of familiarity, affection, or the like: to allow the intimacy of using first names.

4. The quality of being comfortable, warm, or familiar: the intimacy of the room.

You shouldn't be troubled at all. You should rather understand that the relationship of husband and wife are a picture of God and His people, albeit, the Jews were "married" to the Father, but Believers in Jesus are "betrothed" as "a chaste virgin."

Nevertheless, the analogy is there and the reality is that God knows us better than we know ourselves. Therefore, there's nothing wrong with saying that God knows us intimately. Even His Word says that He's "intimately acquainted with all out ways." Ps 139:3.

Perhaps you just didn't take the time to communicate that what really concerns you is the intimacy some seem to claim which seems to go beyond what the Word says. If so, I understand. Some, especially women, seem to go a bit far.

On the other hand, we're not a part of a personal relationship with God that other people have and therefore are very definitely a bit out of bounds in claiming what they may or may not have. I know that there is far more in the Bible regarding person interaction with God than what the vast majority of "Christians" discuss and as Christians, we have access to God in ways those in the OT did not have.

Additionally, the Bible says, "be it unto you according to your faith."

I think we should be looking for far more from God since, "without faith it is impossible to please God."

You must be kidding, No Religions are compatible, they all contradict, therefore each one will claim their is right and the rest are wrong. Why would anyone have a problem with that!

You work in a movie store and you will allow your personal tastes to dictate what you will tell your customers, how unprofessional of you! Surely you realise that not everybody shares your taste and you should be objective when commenting about a movie.

You should be pointing out to people that, if they are a Christian, then they will like it. No different than recommending a horror flick to a goth :-)

How could most people 'expect a romantic movie' - when its a christian film about a woman who meets Jesus, and more to the point, WHY did you watch it in the first place.

Hinduism is somewhat like the polytheism of ancient Rome, and like it leaves no room for evolution theory. That does not mean a Hindu cannot grasp modern physics, but his understanding of it owes nothing to his religion. If he manages to relate the two, it is by delving first into western philosophy which is Greek philosophy seen through a Judeo-Christian filter.

It wasn't a strange movie at all. You're just showing your contempt for God and your love for sin.

That's not my opinion, by the way. It's what Jesus said, recorded in John 3:17-20:

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: that light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. <-- There ya go.

You see, contrary to your pretense, the realities of the inner workings of your heart are common to man and God knows them and here exposes them. People reject Christianity, not because of the reasons they give, but because they "love darkness rather than light."

The movie isn't perfect in every detail of "Jesus'" answers, probably because of the limitations of knowledge of the writers (book and screenplay) coupled with the complexity of some of the issues (It's a movie; no one is anticipating a long doctrinal explanation and few are capable of giving one, or would bother trying to understand one.) Learning truth is a lifelong job and even then (at the end of one's life), no one learns everything.

A truism is, that no matter what, we're left needing to trust the Lord. In fact, one of the things that Believers learn in life is that God WANTS us to see our need for Him, as He never intended that we live without His help and grace.

One major example of that truth and the proof of it is that Jesus bore, on the cross, not only our sins, but also our sicknesses and diseases. For those who really make an effort in understanding the many and varied complexities of bodily functions, nutrients and all the associated issues of health and the many issues that hamper and hinder that, God's love and grace is so evident in this one area. A man has to spend considerable time just to make a living and no one can learn everything (in his entire life) about health and disease.

Just this one issue shows how amazingly kind the Lord is. As Believers in Jesus, we can trust Him to heal us and we don't have to worry about debilitating diseases, if we simply trust Him and believe His promises.

Many "Christians" dispute this, but you should bear in mind the vast majority of those who fill churches are not really Christians. For if one accepts the premise that the Word of God and Jesus are both "the truth," then we must also recognize that also means that satan is real. We see meaningful evidence of this in the parable of the wheat and the tares. Jesus revealed that the tares were mixed in with the wheat by an enemy and are growing together. Healing is one good example of why an enemy would do this. When all the tares (who don't know God) protest that healing isn't a promise from God and they never get healed, it's the enemy's intention to get the wheat to embrace that lie so that they might suffer and die from sickness and disease needlessly.

For the thoughtful, this truth is expansive. The tares don't believe God for anything. They paint a picture that faith in God is a sham and meaningless in practical ways in life. The devil seeks to get the genuine Christian to think this is normal when it's not. God is a very present help in trouble. Ps. 46:1

I'm here to testify that Jesus is my doctor and I don't go to men (for medical care). If and when I get attacked with any malady, I don't run to men but to God and thank Him for His redemptive promises. Don't misunderstand though. Because I know and believe His promises, I almost never get attacked because when the first thought of sickness or disease comes to mind, I attack it and proclaim the promises of God to be true on my behalf and that knocks it out about 99% of the time.

That's just one of the tremendous benefits of being a Believer. :-)

Choosing sin over God is the dumbest thing a person can do.

... and choosing to believe God will directly heal you of e.coli rather than give a doctor the knowledge and tools necessary to heal you is a pretty dumb thing to do, too.
