Damien's behavior

I think it was very poor scripting to have the anti-christ act awkward, unsocial, and suspicious as a little boy. All that does is draw attention to him. It makes his parents wonder about him too.

I would think the anti-christ would be the total opposite of that. He would be especially kind and socially inviting in order to only win people over. He would just be known as a loving and caring little boy who could never do anything bad, let alone be the anti-christ.

That would also make the movie more creepy.

Exactly! This move (and the original) did a decent job of referencing things from the Bible, but the Biblical description of the anti-christ
is that of a charismatic, engagingly popular individual. I too wish the movie would have gone with THAT reference when building the Damien character.

Not only would it have been more accurate from a Bible perspective, but it would tie in with the notion that he would go into politics later, and most of all, for me it would be waaaay creepier to see such a sweet-and-fun-boy-exterior hiding Satan's spawn!
I think this approach would "stick" with the viewer after the movie because we all see these harmless looking bundles of joy in our daily lives... wouldn't it be bothersome and creepy to have the thought in the back of your mind that "hey, this kid could really be the anti-christ"? (I already think that about any politician, but that's a different story)

yha, and on top of making him act so weird and unsocial the movie went overboard to make him LOOK so evil and creepy. Again, he should have looked like an extremely cute and innocent boy - not like some cynical kid who looks like he stays up at night ripping the heads off his toys and stabbing his teddy bear.

What do you think about having Damien be a girl? This movie followed the original so closely, I think it would have been interesting to see one departure from the original be a female Damien. I think Damien is a unisex name?
At this point in our culture, a female would automatically seem less aggressive/violent than a male child (which I agree with you would make the movie somehow creepier), but at the same time it's realistic to envision a female rising to power in politics.

Did you ever see Omen IV: The Awakening? It's almost exactly what you described except the girl's name is Delia.

And he should juggle and do magic tricks!

... I don't know why. But it would've been cool. For me, at least.

He looked like a younger version of Adam Lanza (the Sandy Hook mass murderer). Nobody would have a hard time believing he was Satan's Spawn from the get-go, unlike adorable little apple-cheeked Harvey Stephens. Epic fail in the casting.

Sandy Hook never happened. It was all a hoax by the government. Look into it. It blew my mind. There is no proof that anyone was killed, and the people that were interviewed were all confirmed as actors. It's so bizarre.

After avoiding the conspiracy articles bout this I am looking into it this morning. Your post tipped over the cart (plus it gives me a break from my entanglement/wormhole paper I am writing.)

In Part III he is very well liked and somewhat of a celebrity going on talk shows. It's even mentioned he's the role model of the talk show hostess's son. I don't think he's that creepy in this movie anyways. You could argue he's just a normal kid who with bad luck who unfortunate things seem to happen around by coincidence. Other than freaking out on the way to church he never actually DOES anything that creepy or suspicious himself. Katherine/Kate is the only one who believes he's sinister without knowing who he is first.

I would have to argue he is creepy compared to the kid in the original. The reason I think is that he never smiles and always has a tense look about him. Plus it's apparent they were going for making the kid, look creepy. I think they darkened his hair a little and put make up on him to make him creepy. Plus his reaction at seeing the church and toward his mom was more aggressive, than in the original. In the original he seems just scared and not as angry. Also in the, zoo scene in the remake he seems more sinister where as in the original not as aware what he was doing and even frightened when the animals turned on him. And overall in the original his demeanor and expression.s seemed more normal and he even smiled at times. Although at the end even in the original he looked sinister with that stare and inappropriate smile at the camera at his parents funeral.
